Guys, I know what I signed. I know that I am going to lose my deposit. I know that I will most likely pay MSRP for a lot raptor. I know that this will not be a good financial decision. I know that this is an emotional decision. I know all this, I am okay with all of it.

So back to my question. Anyone dealt with this dealer??? If I do this, I don't want a playing games dealer.

Okay, I think I might be walking away from this dealer, red flags already.

I am asking about a trade. I gave the guy I am emailing my ford VIN. He wants condition, mileage and options. I provide the first two, of course and list out the additional options that I added since he has the VIN to look up all the factory options. He replies and tells me that the VIN will not show him the factory options and I need to list them all. What an idiot I am dealing with. Moving on, will look for another elsewhere.

Now I know why no one has responded about this dealer, nobody here is stupid enough to deal with these guys.

I bought mine from 5 star ford in NRH. I ordered mine for 2k off MSRP. I work with Robert Wood. He is in the commercial dept, but also does private new sells. I have purchased 8 vehicles from him in the last 2 years and have never had a problem, or had to play games. Great guy to work with. Let him know I sent you in - Johnathan Killebrew

Hate to side track here..

But what the heck is the purpose of a deposit if it is refundable??

I've always wondered that.

I too was bound to my ordering dealer by a $1000 deposit.

The deposit is so the dealership knows you are serious. I personally would not put a non refundable deposit down on a car, but I understand why many people would.

I have put deposits down on cars, but they were refundable. The point of the deposit is to protect the dealership from being stuck with a car that they can't sell. The raptor is not a difficult vehicle to sell....

This. I would never put a non refundable down.

my history with deposits usually only occurs in cars where I overbuild them (ie. run the options up too much on the car) or pick some special color/build that would make it difficult to move at MSRP. On hot selling cars I've never put down a deposit, and the notion of a refundable deposit is stupid. it's stupid for two reasons:

1. if you bail, the dealership will probably fight tooth and nail to keep that deposit from you, delay getting it back, etc... so "refundable" is not a common definable term, what you think it is and what they think it is are probably different.
2. The only way I'd agree to a "refundable" deposit is if the money was put in escrow with a clear contract and terms about when the money can be released. I use this when buying/selling cars/bikes over internet/ebay. I'll pay for the car in escrow until I can get it inspected at which point I'll release the funds.

I think this is only going to get worse as 2014 plays out and production shuts down. If there is indeed a 1 year or more break in Raptor production expect new ones and used ones to skyrocket in value relative to new purchase price.

You guys are recommending dealers, thanks but here is the deal.

I am looking for an SE in Ruby Red or will settle for Tuxedo. I will pay MSRP but not over. I will travel. Dealer will need to do a trade (for business reasons)

If anyone knows of a dealer that they would recommend that has this on their lot (not ordering or on-order) then please let me know.

Guys, I have no issue losing my $1000 deposit, none, nada, don't care. I didn't post to complain about it, I am not complaining. I am looking for a raptor on a lot with a fair honest straight forward dealer (even though all of that is an oxymoron). Any help is appreciated.

I just checked AutoTrader and there are a ton of Ruby Reds on there at MSRP. Try giving that a shot.
