depending on the actual route taken google maps says:
Miami - Gibson Island - Grand Rapids = 1777 miles
Nova Scotia - Grand Rapids = 1468 miles
Edmonton - Grand Rapids = 1816 miles
add it ALL up and you get my wife shaking her head and wondering what the hell we are all doing, lol.

Your trip will be worth while, there are plenty of other things to do. Grand Rapids Art and public museums. Rivertown shopping center in Grandville. Cabela's in Grandville,for you sportsmen. Silver Lake has some shops and ice cream at the Whippy Dip. Pentwater is north, that is a nice lake front town with shopping and a nice state park. And there are light houses. And I could go on.

Can't wait to see you guys this Friday!
