Did anyone give him a breath test? Maybe it was O'dulls? I don't know, I wasn't there.

On a different note, does anybody know who the (dark grey?) truck belongs to? Is there a build thread on it?

That is one good looking truck. Appears to have a fairly wide track, as well.

Curious to know more.

Since the other thread was closed I'll post this here about the issue on the trail because I think it's important going forward as how to deal with issues of drunkenness on the trail

Sooooo...it's against the rules to be in the group if you're drinking because it's against the law. But it's not against the law for said person to drive after that? If he was that intoxicated you should have called the police to arrest him not send him on his way down a "dangerous" road by himself to "endanger" other people. If he would have killed someone you would have felt terrible that you had the opportunity to stop it but you sent someone drunk away from the group.

I'm sure if he was that drunk you could have arranged for someone to drive his truck so that he wouldn't be endangering the lives of people as he drove away. The sober people making the decisions need to take responsibility, drunk people lack the ability to reason. If he's drunk he's drunk. Take away his keys or call the police. Don't send him down the road to kill himself or other people!!!

That being said I've been with many people on the trail drinking and having a good time and I've never once felt that they couldn't drive and control their vehicle. I think that a zero tolerance policy is a tad absurd. Who are you to say whether or not a grown man can have a drink or two and drive? It's ok on a public road as long as you are over 21 and under a certain BAC. We are all adults and can make decisions for ourselves, we don't need a bunch of guys and gals telling us how to live our lives...that's what the judge is for.

GLRE didn't send anyone home or tell anyone to go home. What was said is he couldn't continue with the group. GLRE didn't even know about the situation until we arrived at the hotel at 10pm that night.

What a responsible person would have done was maybe ate some food, drank some water and then head out after they sobered up. He could have rode with someone but instead he pulled a Houdini and left so he could continue on the trails.

Who am I to tell a grown man if he can or cant drive in an event after drink?

Just the organizer, the one who pulled the permit, the one who has the insurance in his name, the one who is responsible for the other 83 trucks. I'm just that guy. I'm also the interface to the DNR who stated a 0 drinking policy while on the routes.

Also dispite what the person in question said this is not political. If I or GLRE had a problem with him he wouldn't have gotten into the event. I had 0 issues until saturday at 10pm when I heard about this.

Like was stated above, if it's that big of a deal then use breathalyzers. Why put liability on yourself. You don't want to be intrusive yet you establish a limit that is more strict than law enforcement.

The DNR set that limit. We are adults. Why can't an adult follow the rules set forth?

Simple rules don't like them don't come. I can't make it any clearer than that.

Maybe it needs to be invite only.

Usually an individual that runs around with a breathalyzer in their vehicle have had a life changing event... I know from my own experience.

Carry on with the drama especially those of you whom are more holy than thou others.... (never done anything wrong nor sin, or broke speed limit, etc...) calling someone out by name on the forum is bs. The point could have been brought forth without mentioning his name.

I understand. You're right if people can't follow the rules they shouldn't go but some people think they can get by the rules and some think they aren't breaking he rules. If someone "thinks" they are at a 0% BAC and someone "thinks" they are over then how do you resolve that problem? The guy who thinks he is 0% is going to be upset. Unless there is proof you're putting yourself and the people that assist you in a bad place.

I wish all adults could follow rules. I have 30 employees and not one day have I had every single one follow the rules for the entire day. If you are putting your ass on the line you should cover it. You can't please all the people all the time.

Its pretty easy requirement we set. If you see someone drinking they probably arn't at 0.00. They can wait to drink when back at the hotel. So if a GLRE support truck sees you drinking its a pretty easy call.

Or if your passenger tells us that you are and you need to get out of that truck its pretty simple.
