Now that I am back in FL I really do miss the snow already. Was tempted to stay in MD for the storm but I probably would want to kill people. Since they suck at driving when its dry roads.

Since the other thread was closed I'll post this here about the issue on the trail because I think it's important going forward as how to deal with issues of drunkenness on the trail

Sooooo...it's against the rules to be in the group if you're drinking because it's against the law. But it's not against the law for said person to drive after that? If he was that intoxicated you should have called the police to arrest him not send him on his way down a "dangerous" road by himself to "endanger" other people. If he would have killed someone you would have felt terrible that you had the opportunity to stop it but you sent someone drunk away from the group.

I'm sure if he was that drunk you could have arranged for someone to drive his truck so that he wouldn't be endangering the lives of people as he drove away. The sober people making the decisions need to take responsibility, drunk people lack the ability to reason. If he's drunk he's drunk. Take away his keys or call the police. Don't send him down the road to kill himself or other people!!!

That being said I've been with many people on the trail drinking and having a good time and I've never once felt that they couldn't drive and control their vehicle. I think that a zero tolerance policy is a tad absurd. Who are you to say whether or not a grown man can have a drink or two and drive? It's ok on a public road as long as you are over 21 and under a certain BAC. We are all adults and can make decisions for ourselves, we don't need a bunch of guys and gals telling us how to live our lives...that's what the judge is for.

I would let the whole thing drop, we are all adults here in regards to the topic, otherwise this thread is going to get closed down too.

Apparently not because we aren't left to make decisions for ourselves, we have other adults getting upset and send us home. It's kind of ridiculous

It is a simple Liability issue. If you are found to be drinking you can no longer participate. If you were allowed then the liability falls on the Event organizers. Yes its against the law to drive, but just like if you are caught on a Track you will be asked to leave.
