I got my 18' a couple days before xmas in 2018. paid $4,500 under msrp because they had 11 - 2019's on the way to the dealer. Since it's a lot different today then back then. I am willing to pay $5,000 over msrp. pretty much a wash. Hopefully things start to get a little more norm by end of year

Come on guy, not this again. Quite a few of us have gotten our truck @ MSRP…a lucky 1 or 2 @ invoice. On that note, no one has to prove anything to you. Do what’s best for you and your pockets and be happy. Merry X-mas & post pics when you take delivery.

You’re right, you have nothing to prove it’s just hard for us out here to believe based on the craziness we have been seeing statewide. I usually get my cars at invoice or slightly above knowing when the sales guys have numbers to hit at the end of the month but not this truck in this market. If you did, congrats! There’s about $50k in profit for you if you sell one out here but these trucks are too fun and rare for that lol

several of the dealers where NOT happy that CA folks were calling and trying to buy out of state inventory
I’ll bet that none of us FRF users in America are happy about CA (that’s California, not Canada) folks buying from one of the free states. Because that’s one less Raptor we get to select from.

Just sayin’.
They’re flying out of dealerships at $20-30k over and out of state we definitely pay a California tax.
Which doesn’t mean they’re being sold to rubes, they could be being acquired by other stealerships that are actually able to move them. This is what happened in 2017 - 2018. Small stealership would get a Rap and a bigger one would offer over MSRP. Some would actually take the deal, while others who prefer to remain ethical would not sell to a broker or dealer. The broker or other stealership would then mark the truck up in a favorable market and hope for the best.
Again, just because they’re selling, doesn’t mean they’re selling for asking price. Just because they’re no longer on the lot, doesn’t mean a poor sucker paid a lot over MSRP. It could be that, but it doesn’t have to be.
honestly find it hard to believe anyone nationwide in this climate would pay MSRP without special circumstances such as a Ford Employee or something along those lines so would love more of the MSRP buyers to provide a screenshot (obviously covering sensitive info) or I think there’s simply a lot of people ashamed to mention what they really paid
Of course! You are listing a location of Sacramento. You have to actually visit America to understand that it’s not as bad as where you live everywhere. In fact, it’s to like that in 80% of America. Get a passport, shots, boosters, and head to one of the American states and you’ll see
less regulation, less cost of living, less governmental interference in your daily life, fewer neighbors crammed up your ***, and on and on.

Actually, if you’re from California, you could get a sample of freedom from visiting any middle eastern state; Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Iraq, any-stan, are all more free than California. ;-)

So your perspective on Raptor shopping, even though the internet is available, is colored by your current environment. And let’s be clear, yes I’m totally ragging on California. That said, any urban population center is going to suffer the same perspective issue. I was in the DC burbs in ’17 and had to go 90 minutes out for MSRP. I know of others who swear they couldn’t land MSRP without flying. I won’t lie; I called at least 4 dozen stealerships, even ones we listed here on FRF who were verified as having purchased at MSRP and I still ended up buying in my then home state of VA. It was way more work than I’d expected.

I’d suggest foot voting; moving to a more free locale to live. Nevada or Colorado is a good choice for CA refugees; CO is actually going to be renamed East California in the next few years.

@smurfslayer I’m sure we agree politically for the most part based on your opinions but I would like to also remind you that California also produces the majority of the country’s fresh produce and nuts. The farming rural towns are still American and free by nature and for the most part the liberal nonsense from the big cities doesn’t affect us as much.

You have no idea where I live or how I live, Sacramento is the closest metropolitan city people can identify with. If you can afford to live in California and avoid the big cities it is still a great place to live. I have lived in and visited multiple other places in the South and Midwest so not sure where you’re from but never ever make an assumption about someone you don’t know.

Don’t group me in with a general assumption you have, if anyone needs to get out more and see California outside of SF Bay Area, LA and Sacramento it’s you and then you can come and talk to me. I also know that the rest of the country does enjoy lower or no taxes, cheaper gas and homes but that does not mean I have settled by living in California and I am crammed next to my neighbors in the cookie cutter suburbs, farmland and central california usually means homes on acres, if you’d like to compare living arrangements, let’s do it?

You’re exactly the type of ignorant, assumption making, narrow minded person that the liberals pray on and look at as a reflection of patriots and conservatives who want to retain what makes this country great. I know what the rest of the country is like and while your money may go further and you don’t have ridiculous mandates the big cities in California have they also still have allocation and production issues and enough people in every state wealthy enough to pay $100k for a new Raptor and dealerships exist to maximize profits.

Let’s discuss where you’re from and before we even give you the credit of living in some heavenly place where Raptors are bought at MSRP and chips are produced daily by the thousands, show me some proof?

Always going back to politics. You guys are hilarious.
Looks like most of you forgot the United part in USA. Pretty sad.

Anyway, I paid MSRP plus $499 for some Ikon recovery thing. Had to get to a small town in Texas, everybody seemed happy to get business since they even stated that due to their location they don’t get a lot of traffic.
So in the end, some really friendly Texans were happy to sell me (a former foreigner living in California) a sweet truck that we loved driving back home, going through some of these beautiful United States.

I’ve been to CA so I’m well aware it’s not one giant city, but I’m also cognizant of the multitude of issues in CA that bleed over to the rest of us, including Raptor shopping.

I’d like to thank you. Being called an ignorant, assumption making narrow minded person by someone from California is an honor.

@smurfslayer I thought you’d ignore every question I had and not address anything I said. That’s fine by me, stay in your lane like you should have in the first place.

@smurfslayer you’re just the internet troll that exists on every website. You do not have a gen 3 Raptor, have not bought in this market yet you act like the industry expert master as you seem to do on every thread.
got it. You win the internet. You’re incorrect though, I have bought in this market - a Lincoln. Not in California, but I will say in a fairly urban market place, which just coincidentally turned out to be the best deal I could get short of traveling long distance. Lincoln /= Raptor. The latter is always a tough shopping experience in the first MY of a Jen.

@Bluewhale’s spreadsheet is still a good idea, regardless of purchase location.
