Hey all.

Have a 2020 SCREW with weird unexplainable shifting issues.

2 months ago, I went offroading, drove pretty hard. Out of nowhere, the truck started upshifting while in manual mode. I also hada notification that say unable to use terrain mode. When my party stopped to take a break, my passenger rear tire was flat. I changed out the tire and drove home slowly.

After buying new tires and all tpms wheels were on the truck, I was able to choose a different terrain more.

Now, last weekend, I went off roading, but this time, I noticed my truck would start upshifting out of nowhere in manual mode. Finished the run in auto mode.

Here's the isolated problem. This happens even in regular terrain mode and in auto mode. I was driving to my buddies house and I drove over a bump, I looked at my shift indicator and it started flashing like I kept pressing the upshift button on the shifter or hitting the upshifter on the steering wheel.

It seems to be a short somewhere. Maybe a cable is being pinched.

I took apart the center console and drove around while fiddling around with the wires to try and replicate the upshifting but I couldnt get it to upshift without the regular shift buttons.

Anyone ever encountered this before?

I’m trying to find the thread (think it might’ve been Gen 3) but basically the linkage had been loose to the transmission. I think his issue was the lever would be in park but the dash was showing reverse. With you being a tire down and off-roading maybe something similar happened to you? I’ll post it if/when I find it so you can see the picture.

My thought is maybe you’re putting into manual but it’s actually not going past drive

It happens in manual and auto mode. And, it happens in any terrain mode. Happened when offroading in Baja 2wd and on the street in regular 2wd.

Yea that’s why I’m saying check the linkage..none of the modes will change a broken piece..might be a long shot but worth a look imo

Well, took my truck to the dealership and they said they cant replicate the issue. It only happens when I take the truck offroading and im hitting bumps. It even continues to ramdomly shift when driving home from the desert. But after a day or 2, it goes away. Any thoughts how I can tell them what to look for?
