Well, the frame is still steel so that's very repairable as far as saving from being totaled. As for totaling this truck with having to replace panels, a total is far away considering the price tag of the truck. It's just bad that paintless dent removal as an easy fix is out of the question. And god knows we get dings with our source of fun.

Just look at some of the damage at past events, 11,000 dollars for body damage alone in some instances? And I think its pretty rare that you just end up with body damage. All it has to do is hit the price point to get totaled.

The more I see pics of the gen2, the less I like it. Plain and boring come to mind compared to the gen1. Seeing those pics with a gen1 next to it in Parker confirmed my initial impression. Ours just seems to be greater than the sum of its parts. A beast. Not seeing the beast in the 2017.

Yes and no. To cut out a portion, you're heating up the surrounding area of aluminum, which will stretch and warp. Then you have to weld a new patch panel in, which will also create warping due to heat. @RaptorAddict.com could probably give you more insight, since all of our old restorations are steel (except some aluminum door skins and decklids - which we replace with new panels).

I've actually seen it in action it's pretty cool. no warping and you don't use a torch to cut aluminum.

It's just a different way of welding it's a cold weld you can touch it right away like I said it's cool.
