The majority of your posts consist of talking trash on G2/3 owners and their trucks because you can’t come to terms with reality. Your precious G1 is old and slow and has been replaced by better trucks, get over it.

I’m sure you can’t though, as you’ve claimed the G1 is an “upgrade” from the 2/3 :happy175:

Nostalgia is not going to artificially inflate the price, and neither is a baseless opinion. Cylinder count is not indicative of performance. That’s like saying a 305 Camaro should be worth more than a Gran National because it has a higher cylinder count. It makes zero sense.
Nostalgia, for whatever reason, can absolutely inflate the market price of a vehicle. Have you shopped for an older diesel platform lately? An H2 hummer? A GMT400 truck? 2 door k1500? Heck, even a low mileage gen1 is pulling crazy money at the moment.

I never said anything about cylinder count vs vehicle performance. Unless you meant market performance?

I don’t know where you live, but in my area, there are hardcore enthusiasts for trucks who absolutely refuse to ever own a v6 or 4-cyl truck for the sound alone.

And I said the market would be hotter for gen1 vs a gen2, IMO. Nothing about performance, price, or actual value. I just see them being more sought after, that’s all. Gen 2 is a bad ass platform, and better than a gen1 in just about every measurable way, except there are guys like me who don’t care about those measurable ways, and smile whenever they cold crank in the morning, and enjoy the driving experience.

All jokes aside the gen2-3 are newer more engineered and as result better in performance. In factory spec the gen1 is rather primitive. Which is what I think were discussing. The primitive 150 side of the equation is a catch 22. I will agree with ford tech. Theres no way in hell a gen1 will hold higher value. Best examples with low mileage and I mean low are getting 50-60k tops. Better have a blower on it as well. Now in my opinion a well used gen 1 in running condition and reasonable rust will likely stay 15-20k regardless of mileage over the next 20 years. Not exactly spectacular.

Those are one-offs, and in cases like the H2, were never replaced with a new model. Older diesels are desirable because they’re pre-emissions requirements.

Exactly. Each individual case has it’s own attraction. That creates a market situation where they become more desirable, based on nothing more than a unique situation, which can create a nostalgic market for it. I would love to own an 07 Duramax, or a 5.9 24v Cummins. I love the way they sound, and it reminds me of a time before emissions standards were “clogging” up things. Newer models WAY outperform them in every way, but that doesn’t matter to me. I loved working on the simpler diesels when I was in the ARMY. The trucks I mentioned are nowhere near as simple as those, but it still brings me back.

See, that’s an insult to others, based on your opinion. You come off as someone who appreciates innovation, performance and tech, which is totally fine. I appreciate those things too, but I will spend my money on what makes me happy. Right now, I prefer a v8 sound and driving experience, and the gen1 fits me perfectly. As someone who has owned probably close to 40 vehicles, I love to buy into different platforms and experience them. I just prefer my trucks to have a v8 exhaust note. Doesn’t make me a caveman, just my preference.

I'll chime in here. I will always prefer my 2014 SCREW over the Gen 2 or even a Gen 3. I test drove a Gen 2 in 2017 or so and I HATED the V6 sound. It sounded like a rice burner that was trying too hard. I'm not convinced a boosted V6 in a package as heavy as the Raptor platform is good long term.

The salesman I dealt with sounded exactly like Mr Ford Tech here. He actually tried to tell me I was wrong and moved on to insults when I told him I was not interested in the V6.

I waited a long time to get the 6.2L V8 Raptor. I have one and that's good enough for me. I've only ever driven V8 trucks. I traded in a Cadillac Escalade with the GMC 6.2L. I don't really care for alot of the newer tech as it can be highly distracting. The Raptor R is definitely on my radar, but way out of my price range.

Nostalgia is a hell of a thing because I've gotten a few offers to buy my Gen 1 but they go away when I tell them my price is $100k. The Gen 1 will always be the OG Raptor that started it all.

A whole other conversation that this made me think about: I could totally purchase an R, but spending that much money on a truck that I will never utilize the capability of, just doesn't make sense for ME. I will complain at times, but I still enjoy turning wrenches and figuring things out on my gen1. That's part of my decision to purchase, I want to tinker. I don't want to frame-off rebuild, but I love maintaining, repairing and upgrading. My original plan for another truck was to buy a Chevy/GMC 1500 with a 6.2 and do a cammed build... but I realized that the body style that held the exact engine I wanted, didn't excite me. I didn't want to do a swap, I didn't want to deal with AFM/DOD or deleting it, I didn't want to deal with the 8 speed... SO, I moved over and found the 12th gen f150, and then the gen1 raptor, and here we are today. No cammed build, but whenever I get the motivation to do a swap, I will go back over and cam a 6.2 GM one day.
