Damn @TXAG you're like me!

I change cars like I change my underwear. But I have no rhyme or reason like you do. I don't do it for the money (but I haven't lost money on a car yet) I do it for the different experiences that come with owning different vics. So having tech in one car and not having tech in another isn't going to bother me. (taking a sip of my Ensure). If you operate on graphs, then do your mind graphs and see if its worth your while. If you're fueled by emotion and excitement or the thrill of potentially making money off of your Gen3 and still owning a bad-ass truck out-right, then dive in head first into a Gen1.

As long as it's a Raptor and it's not a Prius we're going to egg you on and make arguments for both possibilities, but at the end of the day you're going to have to do what's going to get you more smiles per miles. (dropped my Ensure... f*ck)

I think you'll seriously miss the creature comforts of the Gen 3. First gen is cool and all but it's light years behind the new trucks. I'll upgrade from my first gen, or add a new Raptor to the fleet sometime down the road.
A 1969 Ford Boss 302 Mustang is light years behind the new Mustang's but I would kill for a great condition one just like I would want a great condition Gen 1 Ford Raptor! Oh, wait I have a great condition Gen 1 Ford Raptor, silly me. :pepper:

Haha! Thanks for your service nomad! I think we are exactly alike, to be honest. I'm not into cars for money reasons at all, they just get my blood flowing. The money side of it is just how I think when looking for my next change of underwear. I would feel like a ******* if I was buying and selling vehicles and losing 10-20k every time.

This is not a 1980 Lamborghini Countach. Do not go from a 22 RAPTOR to a sub 16 RAPTOR and expect to be just delighted and overran with equity.

These vehicles are liabilities brother.

This is where we differ. I think the first gen Raptors are like a Countach, as far as present and future desirability. I can guarantee you many more people have lusted over a first gen than the Countach. Give me a first gen factory roush Raptor any day over an 80 Lambo. What would I do with one of those? Park it in the garage and take it out on the good weather weekends to be smoked by a Prius from a stand still? Scrape half the front end off pulling into the dealer parking lot to get my $20k annual tune up? I think I would prefer clipping the curb at starbucks in the raptor, and living to fight another day. I think there will be a market for these trucks like the old broncos or Locked 80 series Cruisers in the future. The Roush will be as if they had a Shelby Bronco back in the day. Call me crazy.

Well you’re a little crazy lol ;). Roush was never a factory package. It’s an aftermarket add-on kit installed after the truck left the factory. It’s only worth what someone is willing to pay, it’s not even listed in most “blue/black book” appraisals.

Well you’re a little crazy lol ;). Roush was never a factory package. It’s an aftermarket add-on kit installed after the truck left the factory. It’s only worth what someone is willing to pay, it’s not even listed in most “blue/black book” appraisals.

Haha! My understanding is ford allocated a certain number of Raptors to Roush to upfit. They were numbered. In 2014 what I can find is about 200 of them were allocated from ford. You could buy a brand new one from a ford dealership that was roush authorized, obviously without the factory warranty. This is pretty close to the same way the original Shelby's were done.

Not quite. There were/are no allocations by upfitter. Each aftermarket company (Roush, Shelby, Saleen, Tuscany, SCA, etc) request what they want from production, but there’s no correlation to the “build” numbers that the upfitter assigns. Roush numbered them based on what they upfitted, nothing more. The “Roush” dealers were “certified” by Roush, which was nothing more than allowing them to sell the aftermarket upfit and contact Roush for warranty issues.

Everything you just explained was exactly what I thought and was trying to convey, apologize for hacking it up. The allocation I was talking about was what Ford allocated directly to Roush to upfit. It ended up being 450 for 2014 to my understanding. This is pretty much exactly the same way the original Shelby Mustangs were produced.
