Gen 2 is a classic and I will keep mine forever

All new trucks sit too high up to be usable for real work, at least with the bed. My last truck was a 2003 F-150, the last year of that body style, and the bed height was ideal. Bigger is not better. I know most wont agree because most Raptor owners will never use their truck for real work/truck things.

Hmmm... Classic??? OK, I absolutely LOVE my 2020 with every option available. That said...

I MISS my late model 2014 which was one of the last 100 of the Gen1 to roll off the line. Not going to lie, I like driving my 2020 around town more, but I think the 2014 looks cooler, definitely SOUNDS cooler, and off roads almost as well. For me so far anyway. The boxy grill on the 2020 is really growing on me though.

IF any Rappy is going to be classic imho, it's going to be the 2014. UNLESS Ford starts making another 6+ liter V8 option again.

I LOVE my 2020, but as of right NOW, I wish I'd have kept my 2014... Too late. She's gone. I had a weak moment back in April and the dealer was giving away Rappys. For now. The 2020 IS growing on me. No argument that it is a fantastic vehicle. I don't care about the tech. I have no complaints other than I'm a big block guy at heart. Yes, a Harley riding gear head dinosaur.
I disagree....the gen 1 does not look cooler AT ALL....it looks dated af, it does perform and is the original but not the best looking and its not even close. I don't get the hype behind the 6.2 as it wasn't even highest HP and tq in its class.

It was a great beginning but after driving both ( my brother in law has a 2014 and I own a 2020) I can say it is no comparison, the 2020 is better in every aspect except sound

As for the 6.2, mine's been pumping out 570+ rwhp (on ~115 pound wheel/tire combo) for 5 years now without a hitch. Still doesn't even burn any oil. Just has a Whipple with full exhaust and a very conservative canned tune. It was that easy. Power/dollar value extremely high. The trophy truck sound is really just a bonus. And the best part is the truck has never had to go back to the dealership. Not once. Definitely one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.

But I do plan to add a newer one to the stable one of these days. Variety is the spice of life, after all. I am just waiting to see if Ford is going to answer the TRX with a Gen 2.5 first. If not, I will buy a clean 2017/2018 and Gen 3 Coyote/Whipple/10 speed swap it. I expect it will really scoot with that light weight body and 10 speed. I will have to get used to the relatively uncomfortable seats and the loss of low end torque (my 6.2 is a beast), of course, but every truck has its compromises. And those Coyotes sound absolutely amazing at 7500+ RPM. Plus I do really dig the boxy aluminum body. It will look ever better with bigger fenders and bedsides. :cool:

In 2014 GMC made a 6.2 as well.....iirc that motor had more hp and tq than a gen 1 raptor, but I could be wrong.

Yea you will have to get use to the loss of tq under 2k rpm lol.....what a joke

I’m very curious about this myself. My current 11 Silverado sits at a great height to pull tools out of the side of the bed. I’m expecting to do the same thing with the Raptor but find it hard to get reliable feedback. Most of these trucks are used as a status symbol in the driveway of a subdivision, not as a useful tool.

Do you have the tailgate step? I thought it was a dumb idea until the Magnetic 802A I found on the dealer lot had it. Now, I use it all the time and I cannot imagine a new truck without it.
