So it seems like there's kits to change the rear diffs out but what about matching the front diffs gear ratios? Or do these kits come with both front and rear diff ring and pinions?

Did you have a tune? If so which one?

Yeah - I have had 5* tune with intake and cat-back. Getting headers on this weekend and then I was contemplating either working on the gearing or thinking about more power adders.

I have 37's and I ran without gears for about 6 months then I went with4.56's and I have to say I love them. I have the punch back down low and it's not to much of the highway. I have a tune, headers, and throttle body on the truck so it's not some crazy blown 700 hp beast and it does fine. Just my opinion if you go with 4.88's first gear will be a blur and second gear I would think be one also but I could be wrong.

I actually would prefer having to use my first gear as little as possible and mostly be in second and third. I feel when driving on the edge the drop in rpm is too extreme and too unsettling in terms of controlling any sort of drift at 50-60mph in 3rd gear. I personally want high revs in the dirt - much easier to control! I tend to rev my engine way too high because of this bad 2-3 gearing...

I am still leaning towards going with 5.13s - but my focus really is setting the truck up mostly for off road fun - and acceptable on the highway for longer roadtrips.

But I need to look at a gearing chart first before I get too carried away! Also durability is a new concern for me now - is 5.13 going to be a weak link and too risky?

with 4.88s in third gear what speed do u top out at I'm just asking because i have a 2010 and we have the ability to shift manually from 1st to third after that you have to throw it in drive to get to 4th.

If the calculation I did is correct - in third gear with 37" tires and 4.10 @ 6000rpm will go 106mph and with 4.88 @ 6000rpm you will go 89mph

Here is a chart for the rev change

There is a member that was on 37s that said he picked up some mpg when re gearing, anyone confirm?

I gained about 1.5 mpg highway driving with 37inch Toyo M/Ts after re-gearing to 4.88s. I ran a 5star tune before and after re-gearing.

I think my raptor is confused or something lol.

That sounds exactly like what I was told, same situation and picked up 1.5-2 mpg. Which is a big deal when I'm getting sub 10mpg.

Wow! Did not expect that! Very interesting! Did you have the revs per mile on your tune adjusted before you did the gear - or was that first made with the new tune after changing the gear? Your mpg will be off if you just change the tire diameter without adjusting the tune for the tires

If this is true, that's awesome. But are you sure the computer was properly adjusted for the gearing change? If it still thinks you have 4.10 gears, it thinks you are going faster and further than you really are.

I was tuned for 37s before and after the re-gear. It's supposed to be properly tuned for 4.88s now but I'm suspicious something is still off.

I wouldn't re-gear and expect to gain mpg.

With the SCT tuner and 5* tune you can actually change the tire revs and differentials ratios yourself by selecting strategy tune irrc. If it isn't adjusted properly your mpg for sure will be off. By going from the stock tires to 37s your mpg will actually show worse than it actually is. Roughly 10% larger tire diameter. I have a feeling only after the re-gearing did your tune get properly adjusted and before it was reading lower than it really was.
