I may have to change my name here to "contrarian" b/n this and responding to "But mommy, I want a v-8 option" types of posts.

Maybe you should change your screen name to "sensitive susie". You ecoboost boys are really an odd bunch. You just can't handle that other people have different preferences when it comes to vehicles. Y'all need to grow up!

As for the dipsticks that think a hybrid F150 in the pipeline means there is no V8 coming, I've asked multiple times for a source on that. There's nothing out there to support it. The only thing official we've ever heard from Ford is that they have NO plans to discontinue V8s in their full size trucks or the Mustang.

So it's purely speculative and, in my opinion, it's based on some very bad logic. If anything, the hybrid makes a V8 option MORE likely. The hybrid will bring fleet average MPGs up and emissions down. That will give Ford more flexibility to make their enthusiast oriented offerings really interesting.

That said, at this point, it really doesn't matter to me anyway. And actually, part of me prefers them to stick with the V6 since I already made the decision to make my Gen 1 a long term project truck. It's going to take the cost of another Raptor to get the suspension done right so I really don't want the temptation to buy another one.

Going forward, Uncle Sam may not be the same as we've known. I feel like there's going to be some sweeping changes coming in our Gov't. The EPA is going to change, farmers hopefully won't be harassed so much. Perhaps CAFE will change to.

Amen and Ford even said a Trump Presidency will be good for truck sales.

If you actually look at the full-size truck CAFE standards through 2025, there really is not much of a change. I've posted the numbers several times in the past year or two but a v8 Raptor's impact would be negligible. No doubt you can make the argument that Ford is tied to the ecoboost engines but in reality a v8 Raptor and CAFE realistically are not in conflict. Nothing compared to Superduty sales with v8s which still have the 6.2! 2017-2021 no change but then EPA sticker numbers in the F150 size do go up 1 mpg from 2022-2025 (if they don't change now with the new administration).

No tree hugger and was not a fan of CAFE regs when introduced. However, would hate for us to go backwards in regards to mpg in passenger cars. It has forced companies to innovate. We're getting more and doing more w/ less. Gas engine development has been remarkable. More power in smaller packages using less fuel. Weight savings. Structural Carbon fiber trickle down. Carbon fiber tubs, not just Mclaren, but BMW, and guessing others before long. We are in the boom times of automotive technology and....uh...horsepower/torque/ drive characteristics. You can walk into almost any dealership and find a 500+ hp option, including Cadillac. Good heavens! It's an enthusiasts dream!! I don't want that rolled back.

I like the current ideas as well but I'd really like it if each Manufacturer was alowed a number of gas guzzlers haha. 20,000 a year would be a reasonable figure and then everything else needs to get 35+ mpg.

I personally don't care if they build a v-8, v-12 or whatever else they can sell. My point is a simple one, the v-6 is great. If the v-8 is better and they build it, buy it. I don't want V-8 cars or trucks to go away. I'd love for there to continue to be options. Ford simply decided on building a 6 that outperforms a a substantially larger 8 in all metrics (excluding towing and sound) for this particular package/use. And really, if towing is your thing, maybe diesel is your better friend.

As for odd, what I find is the following; I enjoy reading the mod sections and appreciate the enthusiasm all the gen1 guys have for their trucks, but some love to come to the Gen 2 section to troll and name call those who prefer the newer truck. I can appreciate both. Some clearly can not. Regardless, Truckzor, sounds like you've built up a bad a$$ truck. Enjoy.

Yours truly, Sensitive Susie.

A supercharged v8 has already been seen sitting right next to a gen 2 under the knife at the roush factory.

Here's another @SlimChaChi
