I do have an update on the original topic. Deal patched things up so I could make it home. $350 he said that t
It would not be covered by warranty. He said there are 2 10mm nuts in the battery junction box. 1 was very loose and causing arching which melted part of the wire harness. He said I need to replace the BJB and wire harness fir $2,100. No warranty coverage. Complete bs if you ask me. I’ve never touched and wiring in the truck other than upfitter switches and a ground lug. Nothing inside or even near the fuse box.

I opened the hood to see if I could see anything burned and I can’t. What I did see where two of my lights were disconnected bare power wires exposed. When I took it to the dealer there were working just fine so that annoyed me as well.

the only issue I’ve had with the truck was car phaser. Wonder if the bolt could have been loosened at that time.

at any rate. I suspect the trucks days are numbered. There are too many good cars/trucks out there to deal with my marginal truck. I’ve had gt350, f250 6.7 and never problems like this.

That doesn’t make much sense. If the retaining nut was loose and there was no evidence that it was modified/tampered with, why didn’t they submit it for approval to be covered under your extended warranty? If you had something aftermarket at that connection obviously that wouldn’t be warrantable, but it it’s bone stock I don’t see why a loose connection wouldn’t be covered. Do you have the Ford Protect Extended warranty?

Do you know if the dealer removed the body during the cam phaser repair? If so, that procedure requires removing the BJB terminal fasteners; if the tech didn’t torque them properly, that would explain how it was loose. At that point the dealer who did the repair needs to step up and cover the damage.
