I rotated my tires at this weekend (7,000 miles). Included the full size spare in the rotation. Started by putting it on the right rear, then doing a normal rotation from there. Left front ended up as the new spare.

Drove around town. no issues. Monday morning commute to work. hit 75mph on the highway, and it felt like the wheel wanted to come off the truck. Pulled over. Checked the lugs...all good. Limped to work at 65mph (the horror).

At lunch went out and swapped that wheel and put it back under the bed. Problems went away. I noticed when doing this, there were no weights on the rim anywhere. Can't believe Ford is so cheap they couldn't balance a full size spare.

Ordered new TPMS sensor for the spare, and the tool to sync them up. Will get the spare TPMS installed and have it balanced, then put it back on.

Not surprised.

If you think about it most tire manufactures put rebates on 2 or 4 tires. So when replacing a set how often do people rotate the spare in? Also with no TP sensor in the spare that makes it more of a PITA.

Also how many people replace the tires with the same brand? So another reason people probably don't use the spare.

All just good excuses for the manufacture to cut costs and not balance the spare or put a TP sensor in it.

I wish ever car that comes with a spare had a sensor and either a warning light or pressure indicator on the dash.

Having put a flat spare on a car before, I'm definitely annoyed Ford cheaped out and doesn't include the ability to monitor the spare along with the other tires. But on the other hand, I am impressed it is a matching tire and wheel. Not something you see very often, but definitely nice to have if you are in the bush and need to use the spare to get out.

I haven't confirmed it personally, but several posters have reported that the tool is unnecessary to reprogram the tire location. Move them and after five minutes of driving, the truck figures it out.
