It all varies. The truck mpg calculator isn't 100% accurate. And it's also not a blanket "x.x mpg" off every time either. It all depends on your driving habits. The computer can trend pretty close over time, but if you do a couple WOT bursts, or a couple heavy load trips on 1 tank, but the rest of the drive is as you always do, the mpg calculator may show almost the identical thing, but it can be off just enough that you could run out at 0 to E, 5 to E, or have 0 to E on there for 5 more miles.
I've only hit 0 to E twice on my screw. Once was the first tank, I figured everything was brand new, no contaminants in the tank yet, so if I was going to see if it could go to E to test it up front so I knew incase of emergency and I had to push it, I would at least know. I hit 0 to E on my way to the gas station and fueled up with about 35.5 gallons.
2nd time was on accident. I was towing my race truck back from maryland 2 hours away. Watching the Miles to E and knowing how far I had left, I knew it'd be close. Good thing it is still fairly accurate adjusting for towing when the settings are set for it. I hit 0 to E with about 2 miles left to go to my house. I was sweating it because I had a trailer so I figured it would be burning faster than it was accounting for, but I had 5 gal of street fuel in the back so it wouldn't have been a major deal if I ran out. Got home and unloaded the race truck, then I had to go around the block again to turn the trailer around, then back it in next to the house in a tight spot, which took a few minutes, and I had to go 4wd because there was snow/ice in the yard I was slipping in in 2wd trying to back the trailer up. I was almost certain it was going to run out lol. Parked it in the driveway, and next morning went to go get gas about a mile from my house. There's 1 road that is a stop sign on a downward slope. I KNEW if I made it past that I could coast to the gas station the rest of the way if I had to lol. NOPE! What little fuel was left sloshed forward on the downhill braking and it sputtered to it's end. SO close! lol Dumped in the 5 gallons I had and proceeded to the gas station.
Long story short, if I NEED to, I'll run it to 0 to E, but anything past that and I'll be sweating bullets.
99% of the time I fill it up with around 100 to E. As soon as I crack that 100 mark to double digits left, I fill up my next morning on the way to work.
I've always wanted to try it out, but never had a gas can in the back of my truck when I'm that low on gas. I usually fill up between 50-100 miles left. This truck makes it too easy. At 50 miles it starts telling you where the gas stations are, lol.
lol I did notice that, it is pretty funny the nav starts showing you were gas stations are as a reminder when you get that low.
I don't run it that low because I know I'm only getting 100 bucks into the tank before the pump stops.
I guess I could do the math while filling up with a couple ticks left on the mileage meter.

Ha, only a truck that gets 13 to the gallon would also tell you where to get more. It's like an addict.
Yeah our limit here is $125. So if I don't fill up before the cluster shows "30 gallons burned" I start getting grouchy, because if gas is around $4 a gallon I know I can get 30 gallons for $120. Usually it's a little less than $4 so I can get 31 maybe 32 for the $125 limit. But I HATE not having a full tank, and I HATE running my card twice, especially since this is NJ and you can't pump yourself so you're waiting for the attendant a second time around, and they won't let you run the same card twice, so I have to use two different CCs. If I max out $125 I always run another card even if it's for $2-$3 worth LOL
