Per the bulletin on the non-H.O. 3.5, owners are eligible for reimbursement if the repair was performed before the date on the Owner Notification letter. I would think the 3.5 H.O. would be the same when it comes out. The parts are the same, the differences are in the calibration.I bought the truck used. I have paperwork complaining about the noise at cold start but the dealer still refuses to cover it. I called Ford customer service and they were no help. Stated they couldn't do anything because it was out of warranty. Who should I contact in this scenario? Now say I were to pay out of pocket to get this fixed; does anyone know if Ford were to extend the warranty coverage to my engine, would they reimburse me for the cost of replacing the phasers inside the warranty extension? Really don't want to go that route but I can't have the truck sit forever at the shop.
The dealer is most likely unwilling to perform the repair because comebacks and repeat repairs are not warrantable if adequate technical information was available at the time of the original repair. So they failed to properly diagnose the concern per the TSB, and now they cannot claim it under warranty. You can run it up the chain at the dealer (GM, Dealer Principal or dealer group) and see if you can get some assistance/coverage. They dropped the ball, they need to own it. There is no excuse for not repairing a concern when a TSB is available, they’re being spoon fed the diagnosis, parts list, procedure, and labor ops.
