or use an impact gun or rent one from a local parts shop. If you use a bigger breaker bar your likely to snap it, then your royally screwed

Now ya got me thinking....................huummmm!

PB blaster instead of wd40. I'd rent the impact gun like mentioned. Or stop being a girl and get that damn bolt out!

I hear a lot of good things about PB Blaster.

Well the more I think about it and the more I work with hand tools on stuff that is hard to get off I am thinking about investing in a cordless Impact wrench. Looking at the Ingersol Rand w7150 1/2 inch drive. Right up there with an air wrench in power. That should solve many problems!!

When I'm 66 I hope to hell I can have problems like this. *** I will probably chasing tail around a nursing home in my rascal not trying to remove diff bolts from a raptor.

This is a common problem. Ask yourself this question. Why is it always the last bolt?

When you unbolt all the bolts on a cover, or something that has flex and multiple bolts, when you get to the last bolt it won't budge. That is because the cover has shifted, and made it impossible to remove that last bolt.

Break all 6 (or however many) bolts loose 1/4 of a turn, then proceed to remove them one by one. Works every time. If you have a last bolt stuck, you can usually fix it by putting the other bolts back in and tightening them down. Then go back and loosen the stuck bolt. If you haven't trashed the bolt too bad, it should come out.

If the heat don't work, since it expands the bolt try a little ice on the bolt, this will make the bolt contract... Put Ice on the head of the bolt as long a you can and this should help free it up...

You can't screw all day long. You need to take a break every once in a while. By the way folks that are 66 don't usually go into a nursing home......that is more like 86.............you young whippersnapper!!!

Good point but I am way ahead of you. Only loosened each bolt did not take out all bolts to the last one. Even reversed the process.
I think I am going with an impact wrench and forget all these damn issues!

I'd try resetting the other bolts to their torque spec in stages. Then tap the stubborn bolt with a ball peen.

Probably get a six point socket ...

:ryu-cvs-hadoken-a:Mudblood,
Heat the bolt, and then hold a wax candle as close to the base as possible. The hot bolt will melt the wax and it will wick in to the threads.
Should then be able to back out the bolt when it is cooled.

I swapped fluids and replaced my diff cover at close to 30k miles. Zipped off all the bolts at seconds a piece using my cordless impact. It's a priceless tool for removing fasteners.

Also, like others already stated, WD40 won't do much for you. Use PB Blaster penetrating catalyst or Kroil. I didn't need any penetrating solvents when using my impact. Also, I typically use an impact only to remove and I tighten using a torque wrench set at the appropriate spec.

Worst case scenario...if you have a welder or access to one you can potentially weld a piece to the bolt head so you can hammer it around or another bolt if you accidentally round off the head. I've had to do this before with a badly rusted bolt that had a rounded off the head. I didn't have access to a damaged bolt removal kit in the right size. You'll obviously need a new bolt using this method.

Got the IR w7150 cordless impact wrench..............good lord!! This thing is a total beast. Just like having a air wrench without the hose. Frozen Bolts don't have a chance with this thing!!! Great investment!
