Stuck Bolt

Use heat, make sure you heat all around the the head until red tap with a hammer, should do the trick now I use a Graphite product called Never Seez I put it on everything i take out then Torque. The torque on the Raptor front differential cover is 24 FT/LBS rear is 33 FT/LBS

Put it back together and let the dealer worry about it. If you break that bolt its your problem. If they brake the bolt, your in the clear.

ask for a differential service, and tell them to drain the fluid not suck it out, that way the diff cover comes off.

I always try to break each bolt loose before remove all the way I think it help's with binding. also warping don't know if it would help to put 2 back in by it and tighten them down to help release presser. Is oil leaking out?

Got the IR w7150 cordless impact wrench..............good lord!! This thing is a total beast. Just like having a air wrench without the hose. Frozen Bolts don't have a chance with this thing!!! Great investment!

Just saw the specs on that bad boy and read the Amazon reviews. Holy crap! Have to add this to my wishlist. I like my Dewalt 1/2" cordless impact for small jobs but it can't even break Raptor lugs loose.

No leaking. Just wanted to install my half spyder. Very simple process with you use a good sealant. Just one bolt frozen.

This thing is a real beast. Figured there would be plenty of times I can use it.

reading this sparked my interest in the impact wrench as well, wow! Does it have adjustable torque settings? Is it as powerful as they advertise?

I use the ir battery impact at work....in a steel mill on structural bolts...and 700ton crane runway rails...and rail splice bars...rolling mills...etc etc. It has performed flawlessly and is amazingly durable.

Stuck bolts can usually be avoided by breaking all of the bolts loose before removing as stated. If you have one being stubborn a heat gun is your friend. Someone mentioned using a soldering iron earlier and that works well on smaller bolts and amazing well on inserts where you can get direct heat deeper into the component. Good sockets will keep you from stripping your bolts. An open end wrench or crescent wrench may expand when put under high loads so they should be avoided until the initial torque is broken.

The science behind heat is that it will usually break down or soften any thread lockers or sealants on the threads. Once heat has failed you can try the penetrating oil soak or impact wrench. I prefer to use oil, impact and heat together if I'm going that far.

I'm not a fan of just jumping straight into an impact wrench for smaller fasteners since they create a much higher risk of breaking the bolt. Slow and steady wins the race because extracting a bolt shank without the head from a differential would suck!
