I've got a clunk again in the front. It's definately the control arms though. With everything else replaced it's so quiet with the exception of the lca's now. They only make noise on a quick sharp bump like road patches and washboard. But there is enough play in the bushings that they can't repeat any readings or get the passenger side in tolerence for the alignment. Driver side is barely in tolerence.

The famous Ford clunk is the lower control arm bushings... I have no idea why this is such a secret to the Raptor crowd.

You can cross reference the stock measurements on Moogs site.

They don't make LCA Bushings for the Raptor. Ball Joints yes, UCA Bushings yes. It's not a secret, merely posting up for anyone else who may be going through the trouble shooting process. If your at 130,000 or there abouts the number of things causing noise in the front end is high. It helps others in order to decide, do I replace all these piddly things piecemeal or just drop the money for a new LT or dual shock setup. As it stands I'm out nearly a grand, not counting the 3.0s, replacing parts. And I still have to replace the control arms. I could've just got a few parts from RPG, SVC, etc. and I would've been ahead of the game for future mods.

Dual shock kits are a waste of money too.

Yeah I realize they can be replaced by buying new LCAs but all it takes is someone to measure one bushing instead of the brainwashing of buying new everything including LCAs.
If no one does it sooner, I will do it this summer when I replace my front suspension with OEM parts.

Measure your LCA bushing and then goto Moogs website to crossreference their universal listings.

This is the only truck forum who seems to think that dual shocks are better than a properly engineered single shock / strut and spring setup.

That's for mall crawlers

I don't know about that, but I think there are considerably more folks on this forum who push their trucks hard enough to take advantage of the benefits of a properly tuned dual shock setup. I haven't needed or really wanted to invest in anything better than stock (other than a few occasions) till recently. This isn't the forum for lift kits and chrome multi-shock setups, those sites are all on the Z forums. haha. If your trucks your only transportation or you cannot take it places to drive fast and hard you probably don't want to spend that kind of money. If your truck is a 6600 lb ATV you whip on the weekends and/ or it's paid off, you do.

I have the clunk. How do I check the LCA bushings? Obviously a visual check, but will i be able to jack the truck up, shake and see play in the bushing?

Negative, the tuning capabilities are vastly improved.

Not likely. Unless the are really trashed, you probably won't see any thing wrong. I can only confirm because I've replaced everything else and it won't take an alignment within specs and the fact it makes its noise on sharp bumps. It's kinda frustrating since it's not a cheap fix. Factory is pricy and aftermarket will make you spend more cause you'll end up doing a upgrade. Trying to make decisions myself as we speak on which way to go.
