GEN 2 Front Camera Malfunction

Been having issues with my rear camera for a while. It goes black occasionally for hours at a time then comes back...usually after it rains. Yesterday, I got a warning that my front camera malfunctioned. It’s now a recurring issue. There is also no cruise control available and it won’t even let me change the setting to normal from adaptive.

This is my 4th raptor, all Gen2 and I’ve had a problem with every one, so annoying. Still love the truck.

Anyone had this issue? Off to the dealer for repairs.

What year is the truck? The “front camera malfunction” message is referring to the Image Processing Module (IPM-A), not the front video camera. The IPM-A is used for adaptive cruise control pre-collision assist, which is why a malfunction will disable adaptive cruise control.

It’s a 2020. My front camera is actually working. Backup camera is having the blackout issues discussed on the other thread.

The dealer should be able to solve both issues easily with replacement of the camera (updated part number) and diagnosis of the IPM-A, which may require module replacement.

I started having intermittent issues with both front and rear camera the other day. Yesterday I just got a green screen like when the TV acted up as a kid. Then today they both worked fine. Friday they were both black but it showed the sides. I’m assuming it’s a module. Mines a 20 and I’ll see if I can drop it off this week at the dealer

My front camera on my 2019 went blurry. They ordered a new one, swapped it out and it was fine.

I have been having the same problem with my front camera. It doesn't happen that often (maybe 10 times since new 2017), but it does go blank and/or green screen. Anecdotally for me, it seems like it happens when my truck is parked outside in the hot FL sun and the camera (could be module in front end) get's too hot. Once it cools off and I restart the problem doesn't reappear till next time. Will have it looked out when I go back to the dealer for service, but have been pretty much trying to avoid that and doing regular maintenance myself. If it was really bad, I'd cave and take it in. Since it's so sporadic, I've just learned to live with it lol.

Cameras are a big issue with many 2020 Fords right now, not just Raptors. They should all be covered under warranty but the issue at the moment is so many dealers are trying to replace them for customers, and after ford being shut down for a few months, they are in and out of "national backorder"

My local dealer replaced the module on my 2020, as I was experiencing the issue. Once replaced, it must be recalibrated with special equipment, including the towing blindspots. When they calibrate it, they must have a lot of space in the service lot. Because it happened to be a busy day, they asked that I bring it back. He said the backup camera should work fine, in between when I return for the calibration. The same issue persisted in-between the module replacement and the calibration. I experienced green fuzziness, pink fuzziness and either black or dim screens, mostly on my front camera, but this included my rear camera. Following the calibration a week ago, everything has worked fine. My wife's 2018 Expedition has occasional issues with her cameras as well. The dealer described the issue had to do with a supplier with faulty hardware. Ford switched suppliers, which "supposedly" fixed the problem (according to my dealer).
