Yup, they changed the grill to take away the most obvious identifier to so most viewing the pics will see an F-150.

Leave it to a car company (Ford) to give customers two great engines including a brand new one (6.2) and still leave their customers wanting more (EcoBoost)!

Just wait Dan...After 2011 Ford needs to put a new engine in the Shelby (if they keep it around). I've read reports of twin turbo 5.0L...that would be a sweet engine for the F150!!

I'd "settle" with a 5.4L EcoBoost (it's only a 3.5L V-6). Imagine the power from a V-8 EcoBoost!
Funny ya say that. I'm betting there's a tipping point at which bigger is not better (sorry ladies). We want a quick revving torque beast, and that means a lightweight rotating assembly. A V6 has a huge advantage in that department (in a production caliber engine... I'm not talking $200k NASCAR engines here). The faster that thing can rev, the faster those turbos can spool, and the faster we are in our happy torque zone.

I'd be interested to see a V8 EcoBoost for sure. And I have no doubt it would win hands down in overall power numbers. But up the curve power numbers... where it matters, where we need it and where its usable? My money is on the V6.

I think you have a good point here. My Taurus SHO with EcoBoost runs great with the V6 and the Taurus is a relatively heavy car. I am curious as to what Ford will do with a bigger engine?

*crosses fingers and hopes it runs*
Ditto Jake.

My Ford contact recently told me that this engine has over 1.9 million development miles on it. They're very confident, but cautious too.

really? does he know if any of them are offroad?

Im curious to see how it hold up to real desert racing, i know the Mccarthys hadnt gotten around to getting many (if any) miles on it in this truck yet. Just little issues one after another, but apparently they got the ford engineers involved and its good to go now!

Oh I doubt it. And I doubt Ford would release that sort of info anyway.

But that's why they're doing this. Its clear Ford understands that "development" miles does not equal real life miles. This truck should be really interesting to follow during the race.
