Hey all, finally getting around to posting my "I got my Raptor!!!" thread. I have been a long time lurker here at FRF having wanted a Raptor for several years. When the Gen2 was announced I was totally blown away and started making plans.

I am fortunate my brother-in-law has a close relationship with a local Ford Dealer so there was no drama finding an MSRP deal. They were awesome to work with. I went in, talked to the assistant manager, spec'd out my truck and was out the door in 20 minutes. They didn't ask for a deposit. They did tell me they didn't know when or if the order would get pulled but they were pretty confident it would happen. If it didn't, they told me they would get me a 2018.

For reference for other people:

Truck was ordered 2/22/2017
VIN assigned 3/20/2017
Build date: 4/12/2017
Arrived at Dealer: 4/19/2017. I wasn't able to pick it up due to vacation till 4/25.
Truck had 10.2 miles at delivery.

I ended up doing a pass through with a local Mercedes Dealer who gave me a pretty great deal on my 2014 E63S. They essentially bought the car from the Ford Dealer for the amount we agreed on and the Ford Dealer sold the car to them for that exact amount. That allowed me to get the max for my trade in since the MB dealer could sell it certified for much more than the Ford Dealer could sell it for or get for it at auction. It also allowed me to take advantage of the tax benefit of the trade in which saved me ~$4k.

My 2014 E63S. 577 HP and 590 lb ft ot TQ. AWD. Total sleeper.

When the truck arrived at the Dealer, I had a few goodies they installed for me and they Line-X'd the bed and the skid plate for me. They also undercoated the truck including the rear wheel wells (they said they couldn't Line-X them but they could spray them with the undercoating spray (I don't think they wanted to take off the wheels in the booth)

Special shout out to: @Rick@FreedomMotorsports for hooking me up with awesome pricing on a Bak Revolver x2, the Baja Designs S2 backup light kit, Bedrug Bed Mat and the Tailgate Mat.
@MandR Automotive for their Gen2 Fog light kit which looks awesome.
Amazon for the stubby antenna and the center console organizer.
Almost forgot, @Nick@Apollo-Optics for the rear license plate LED bulbs!

I took delivery of the truck and drove it straight home and put it in the garage where it has sat for the last week. This weekend I protected the interior with Gtechniq Smart Fabric and Leather guard and Plastidipped the small silver part between the bumper and the skid plate. Today I did a full decontamination. Wash with the foam cannon. Clay bar with the Eagle One surface prep mitt which as SO much faster and easier than a traditional clay bar. Two stage polish on the hood and front fenders and single stage elsewhere using Adams Polishes. Then a wipe down with IPA and right back into the garage.

Wednesday, the truck finally heads out for front window tint, windshield tint and lots of Xpel. Full hood, bumper, grill, front fenders, mirrors and B-pillars.

After the Xpel is on, I'm going to apply Gtechniq ceramic coating to the entire truck and FINALLY get it out and drive it.

Thanks for reading my novel.

For the young or ADD ;) TLDR: Traded in fast Benz, got new truck with some cool goodies. Protecting it before I drive it.

X

Awesome. Great pics.

I have to confess, unless I’m cleaning mud, or a contaminant off, or I’m searching for a leak, I never wash tires. God does it for me anyway.

Drive that thing already!
Sold my Hammer ('15 E63s) three weeks ago, and traded my Ram for the Raptor last weekend. Very happy so far.
