Read through that radio thread. I'm sold on the hand held Wouxon. Maybe we can get another group of preprogrammed ones?

I found this: Wouxun KG-UV3D Dual Band 128 Channel Handheld Amateur Radio

I did not see the KG-UV3D on Amazon. I only saw uv2D and others on Amazon...and it looks like $16 for the speaker mic is a no brainer...

I am stil going to look at the iComs...

I have used the Wouxun handheld on the runs I have attended and it has worked flawlessly. Just be sure to also get the speaker mic, mag mount antenna and battery eliminator cigarette lighter adapter with it.

Your "open" sunglass holder makes a perfect clip on spot for the mic with the radio in one of the cup holders.

Once you get your radio programmed, your set as all Raptor Runs use the same channels.

On the handhelds.... they only put out 5 wats compared to 50 or more wats with a mobile unit. Just some food for thought.

I can't imagine they're hard to program? Never used a civilian one but for ours I can pre program freqs or change it on the fly from the main screen.
