No way will it cost $400 to repaint the trim ring. Heck, the wheels can even be driven with out them on while it gets repaired. It does look to me like a scuff from the tire dismount process. If they were my wheels, I would do one of two things. One, live with it it is not that bad and the wheel will probably get curb rash on it soon enough. Two, go have all 4 trim rings powder coated in a custom color for way less than $400. My local guy would probably do it for $25-40 each trim ring. Then it would be custom.

Mark,
Please respond to the email below,
I have received the notice from pay pal with your denial..
I did the pay pal prior to getting the repair estimate… At this point I obviously do not expect the $400
But I do expect the estimated amount for the repair..
Please advise before I escalate the issue…..

I am looking at options to resolve this, I will advise you soon. I think you have escalated this matter already, and it's your choice if decide to further escalate it.
Mark

I’m a straight forward guy..
You represented the wheels as NEW.. Come to find out they were somebody else’s
It’s your bad if you only looked at two, What would you do if this was the other way around
I’ll accept the repair to the wheel but surely do not plan on paying any part of it.

My ad stated the wheels were as new. The ad went on to say they were off of a truck with <50 miles on it. That means that tires were installed, the truck was driven, and the tires were removed.
I never said the truck was mine, and that's not relevant. I should have inspected all the wheels.
Me? I'd touch them up and use them, they would get more damage than that on my truck anyhow. I understand you have a very new and expensive truck, and your needs and expectations differ from my own. The fact that you have been so "straight forward" in pursuing this, to the extent you filed a $400 claim with Paypal prior to finding out what the repair cost would be and attempting to negotiate a settlement with me kind of ****** me off.
I guess I could tell Paypal I will give you a full refund and you can return my merchandise at your expense, but generally I am not a ********.
I am currently at my daughters school performance, and I will take this up with you later today.
Mark

Just FYI, shipping services nick and scratch merchandise all the time. If you had the insurance value added, take it up with the shipping service and have them cover the damage. When they say "drop ship", they mean it in a literal manner.

Honestly this doesn't seem like it should be such a huge issue. I think the offer to pay half was a fair one. The discount from new price alone is enough to cover the "damages"

I don't see the need to act like an ass on their part either. That's not helping anything.

Since I'm the other half of this issue (and not an ass or ********) I have released the claim with Paypal which was before I knew that the wheel was repairable..
Those of you that run off road I'm sure are used to getting nicks and scratches..
I bought this truck to tow my 31 Ford Street rod to and from car shows, couldn't us the Ram I had since the license plate on the 31' reads "ALL4ORD" regardless this truck will never see anything other than a gravel parking lot on occacison. It is a street Queen !With all this said the interpitation of AS NEW would be AS NEW mounted or otherwise...
I will let this forum be the judge and Jury !!! The $155.34 is a legit estimate from a local body shop.

But you can order a new ring for 135.00 from Ford I think that's fair.. yes you have to do something but its in a good cause, for you to be happy... I don't think you should be out the 135.00 my opinion...

For the record, I had no intention of "Outing" you in this matter. I appreciate that you have released the claim with Paypal, and I would like to say that I did receive a PDF of a repair estimate for $155.34 from a business located near the buyer. I'm still at my offer to pay half of the repair cost, unless the FRF forum says otherwise!

Anyone else find it ironic "chumpchange10" is making a stink over $75? That doesn't even buy me a tank of gas.
