Considering Ford's commitment to Ecoboost, I don't see this engine as anything more than a replacement for the 5.0. Considering the 5.0 didn't make it's way into the Raptor, I don't see this engine changing any of that.
As I have said before, an Ecoboost V6 in the Raptor brings in a lot of sales for standard F150 Ecoboosts. As for "people demanding a V8 in the Raptor", that number may not be as big as the V8 lover crowd thinks. Remember, that preferring a V8 is not the same as demanding one. As long as Ford continues to sell every allocation of the TTV6 Raptor, why would they change it. If people truly demanded it, they would still have a lot of allocations left.
Personally I love the Gen1 and enjoy the bellow of a big V8 but the fuel economy kept me from buying a Gen1. I dreamed that some day the Ecoboost would be available in the Raptor. That day has come, and I couldn't be happier. Based on the response to the Gen2, it appears that I'm not alone. If Ford drops the TTV6 for a V8, I won't care, because I'll have the truck I want. I don't think it will hurt the value of my truck since there are plenty of people who want performance and fuel economy.
And no, I still don't see a TTV8 Raptor anywhere in the future. What makes a Raptor great is what's underneath the body, not just what's underneath the hood.
