Hi guys, so the honeymoon period is DEFFINITELY over with my Dec 2014 10,000km Middle Eastern Dealer Bought Raptor,

The other day a few minutes after starting my Raptor up I felt a wobbling coming from the front of the car, almost like an engine misfire so I shifted the truck to neutral and revved the engine to see if it was but it ran fine.

I pulled up and as I did a horrible noise like plastic being snapped over and over started coming from the engine along with some pretty serious shuddering from the engine bay. I opened the hood as the noise stopped and had a look, as it started again I noticed the radiator start shaking. Quickly I turned off the engine and went for another look to see what the hell was wrong with my almost new truck! The frikken cooling fans ON BOTH SIDES were missing a few blades and had propperly come apart! After a bit of head scratching I thought no - problem its under warranty and I dis-connected the fans and continued with my trip keeping an eye on the temps. Not long later (about 10 miles) the water temp needle started to rise so I pulled over again for a second look and before I even got the hood open I could hear the radiator hissing. When I opened the hood there was steam shooting from the side of the fan shroud!

It took me a few hours but I eventually got the truck trailered to Ford so they could have a look. They seemed happy to take care of me and said they'd be in touch once Ford USA had approved the Warranty...

2 days later I just got a call from Ford to say that my claim was rejected because they say I was abusing the truck they also said I'm gonna have to pay for repairing my own new truck!!!...I flipped and lost my shit with them! Tomorrow I'm going down to the dealership to collect the paperwork the local dealer supposedly filed with Ford USA to start proceedings to sue their ass and to tear these guys a new *******! My truck is absolutely spotless and they're blaming me for this! ITS A BRAND NEW TRUCK, PARTS SHOULDNT BE FRIKKEN FALLING APART ON IT! Moreover if this actually happens through whats obviously a manufacturing flaw I'd expect apologies and a quick resolution, not a F**K YOU!

YOU SUCK FORD!

Its not really Ford to blame. Its your crappy dealer and how they submitted the claim. I had my entire fan assembly replaced under warranty. I was off-road in thick mud that caused one of the fans to fail. My dealer had no issue replacing it. The street price for the whole fan assembly is around $300. Think book time is 1.5hrs. I would get the part and have a shop install it then go after your dealer if you want to be back in your raptor soon otherwise it might be a long time before anything happens if you go your route. Look at your owners manual but I believe there is a section about filing a lawsuit which I believe Ford will use an arbitration agent. Not sure how it works outside USA. Do some research.

I actually just went through a similar issue with my truck. It had just broken 15,000 miles with barely any off roading, and the vacuum hose on the driver's side front wheel cracked which caused my hubs to partially engage and grind away as I drove. I went to a dealer nearby and they blamed me for "driving my truck too hard" when it hasn't seen anything compared to what it's built to handle off road. I eventually had to get a lawyer involved and that seemed to solve the issue rather quickly. It never went to court, they resubmitted the claim and I got a refund check from the dealer.

Like RDFTS said, it's probably just your dealer that is the pain in your ass right now. For me the whole process took me 2 months from start to finish, so if you want to have a truck that works you'll probably have to take legal actions retroactively and get it fixed somewhere else.

Good luck!

this is your problem. ford built this vehicle as a north american vehicle only. any truck bought or sold overseas is/was privately transported, even the ones on dealer lots overseas. im guessing that any warranty went out the window once it left north american soil. the only warranty i see you getting is from the dealership, and not ford.

What Car Stereo said. I bought my US Spec in Germany through AAFES an authorized dealer and had to have serviced in Germany, by German dealerships. Every warranty claim was denied. Most car companies do not honor factory warranties for out of country sales.

Now being that you have a "GCC" vehicle, your warranty would most likely be through Ford Middle East which does not offer the Raptor.

How can that be when the dealership here have the trucks supplied directly by Ford Motor Company not via another agent?

The dealer here said they contacted Ford USA who said the damage to the fan was abuse (only abuse I subjected it to was verbally) so as Ford USA wont reimburse the dealer for the repair they wont do it for free.

The Raptor was never meant to be sold outside of North America.

Did some make it? Absolutely.
The GCC trucks are for the most part, "grey market" vehicles, which means that they don't belong there.

Things might have changed for 2014 models, but most likely yours is like everything else. Bought straight from the manufacturer, put on a boat, and shipped elsewhere. Just like what happens to the local Europeans.

ford never directly imported these trucks overseas. did a US dealer sell to a middle east dealer? absolutely. the markup they can charge is substantial so its worth it for some dealers to find a way to ship them.

Interesting.

This absolutely sucks though that I'm getting screwed on being forced to pay for the repairs. Its a brand new truck. How can you "abuse" a fan anyway? Its inside a shroud behind the radiator! Worst of all it seems like I don't have an option as the way business works here in Qatar means there is only one Dealership so I can't go anywhere else.
I called consumer protection locally who are supposed to protect consumers and they said if Ford say mis-use then they believe them, no questions asked.
Looks like I'm going to be a couple of thousand dollars out of pocket for something thats not my fault.
