So after going to a second dealership, contacting cust service and reopening my case, and submitting a more detailed second claim Ford has agreed to fix the problem. This will be completed under warranty. Thank all of you for speaking up and helping this become more vocal... Sometimes that is necessary.

Sorry for your trouble HeloA&P. I agree w/NV Guy, Ford will loose alot more by not taking care of this. Look at how many people are reading your THREAD!!! Ford has always been 1st class in my book, (but not this time), FIX it FORD, its a brand new $50K truck. My wife drives a honda( I drive a FX-4, waiting on my Raptor), and after over 2 years of ownership, my wife complained of battery problems w/her honda. I told here to go to local service station and get new battery. Honda Motor Co. got "wind" of this through local delership(wife went in for oil change). Not only did Honda tell us battery under warranty, but sent cashiers check for purchased battery price. Thats right sent us a check not some credit voucher, or made up some excuse. Guess what her next vehicle will be. FIX IT FORD

Well, got the truck back from repair yesterday.

I spoke with the manager about the damage found, and turns out I was exactly right. The damage came "most Likely" during assembly or final adjustment phase. The spot that had chipped away was the external damage. Underneath the paint there was a crack that had been creeping and extending. This caused the the paint to crack in other areas. The aft bottom fender bolt by the door on the bottom had tooling marks on the paint prior to repair, and made it apparent that the fender had been adjusted at some point. The paint on the right side bolt is unmarked. It looks as if someone may have used a body spoon to pry on the fender to realign it during final checks. These are all educated assumptions, and I have no proof of it, but it makes sense.

Bottom line Ford did fix it under warranty, but I still feel that it took WAY TOO MUCH EFFORT on my part to have this done. This should have been an easy decision by Ford, and the undue stress it caused still irritates me. I do not have a NEW truck with an undamaged fender. I have a new truck that was damaged, and has a repaired fender. I do not believe that I will ever have a problem in that area again, but it still is a frustrating end result.

Thank you all again for your time and comments, and I still am and will probabaly forever be a Ford supporter, but now I know what the direction of their company is moving towards.

Albeit gel coat and not paint, but I've witnessed cracking nearly identical to that in a previous boat I owned after slamming a fiberglass floor hatch on a shore power cord.

Maybe the guy at the dealer who does new vehicle prep did it.

Either way, that sucks and good luck.

* Probably 100% correct, those dealership detail guys are very rushed and seem to be overworked from what i have seen!

* I understand! I had a terrible experience about one year ago. I purchased four new tires and had the local dealership change them. The tire guy scratched the exterior clear coat on all four wheels all the way thru. I took it back the next and what a mess! It took an act of congress to get them to even agree to fix them, however they finally did after a lot of issues. The kid was fired as a result, however it was a lot of inconvenience and very time consuming for me getting all resolved. I wish American pride and quality still existed here, I truly feel that the new cooperate america is not very customer friendly and that is sad!

Glad they fixed your truck!
