Are the spring / shock bucket the same distance from the stock 150 to the Raptor? Even though the suspension and other parts were carried over,

if the shocks are not running in the same location (meaning ride height shock length is not the same as Raptor), you might not be using the bypass zones the same way?

Also, isn't the valving somewhat speed sensitive? So if running this on a 2wd set up and missing some of unsprung weight the upward inertia might contribute to the ride. So adjusting spring rate on vehicle weight changes may or may not get you close.

Many new Raptor owners expect this riding on a cloud feeling from the suspension and a surprised on how stiff the ride is. Do you think your expectations of the Raptor suspension ride quality is grounded? May be you know exactly what you are expecting, but pointing out some other discussions.

Next time I am running through Flint (every month or so), I'll keep my eyes open for your truck

its far better ride than stock. thats for sure. You have good points but you need to remember in the auto industry they try to make things the same on every vehicle as possible. raptor is almost identical to the f150 as it gets. My knuckles are 4x4 knucks with dif wheel bearings. I bought raptor leaf springs when i went to change them i had the same exact leafs. (my truck has upgraded tow package). Out of the whole suspension swap only issue i had was the rear bumps. The alignment fingers were dif. i just ground them off. Other than that, no problems. Never rode in a raptor so im probably being picky. Once i put larger tires on it might help also. still have stock tires. 30'' i believe

ahh si si... I wouldn't think you'd need to go too much lighter on the rates but here's my math, keep in mind I didn't even graduate high school: :drunk:

I show a 127" WB regular cab with 5.0 to weigh 4840lbs

Scab Raptor weighs 6005lbs

4840/6005 = approx. 20% difference in curb weight

525lb spring rate -20% = 420lb... I would roll with 400lb coils and they should be Purdy close after you break em in

Cougar you have to look at at sprung and unsprung weight plus the weight of the front and the rear. It's more complicated than just a 20% difference. but it's over my head to for the most part

As far as ride goes the raptor is still a truck and for the most part rides like a truck. Next time I'm in michigan i can give you a ride i'll be just down the road from you.

Are those the tires you and wheels you are running? May be try borrowing some larger / heavier tires from a friend and see if the ride changes

Does the single can and larger bed have the same WB as a Scab Rap? Which rear shocks did you purchase, Scab or Screw?

Got the rears from treypal. Think he has scab. Next question I need longer front brake lines. What is what looks to be an 1/8" black tube that runs with my brake lines? Is that something to do with tpms? If anyone has a spare set of raptor front lines ill take em off your hands. Thanks

Yes Sir you are correct... Was trying to get him close. I have built a few things from scratch and used suspension calculators to get the spring rates to start with... and every single time I always end up swapping springs out for what I wanted to start with (personal guess) in the 1st place. So my approach tends to keep it simple.. granted we are dealing with shocks with only 3 preload settings so you do want to be pretty accurate. Springs aren't too expensive at least.

Now that I see the truck (nice rig BTW) with them little tires I would def get the rolling stock you plan on running on the truck before ordering anything.. the bigger tires will make a difference. I have some stock 2013 SVT wheels if your interested.....

I would just order a set of SS lines from SDHQ or one of the vendors and be done with it. If you are going to replace the stock one, might as well do it right the first time.

I asked about the shocks because the rear are set up different for Screw or Scab, I think Trey had an Scab

thanks guys. yea I'm getting new tires and i have a set of first gen raptor wheels. my next question is the oem front shock spacers? can someone post a picture or explain the best they can how they go. im not sure if i got them right. i have one between the top of the strut (fat part of the wedge pointing toward the wheel) and the strut mount. one on top of the strut mount with thin part of the wedge pointing toward the wheel. whats weird is the top struct mount on the shock isn't square with the shock shaft. its more or less level with the earth. idk if its right or wrong.

Raptors come from the factory with angled spacers less than an 1" to allow the shock to be at an angle.
