You have to know your service writer and mechanic, my truck is in for a heated seat failure , I told them while its there waiting for parts do the fuse TSB and change Trans fluid and filter. No issues getting it covered

Pull fuse and melt it a little reinstall and bring it back to dealer.
Ahhhh ha! The old lighter trick!

I took the raptor to the dealer yesterday to do some 100k maint that I didn't want to do (plugs, trans fluid/filter). I asked about the fuse 27 tsb, I figured, if it's under $100 I'll have them do it, if no I'll order the kit and DIY. I do have some brown discoloration on one side of the fuse, so it has gotten hot at least once. They call and say $200-something, I pass. Service writer calls to say that truck will be done today and that the tech has done me a solid and put a higher amp fuse in slot 27 gratis. "That should take care of it" I guess they are trying to be helpful.

Correct me if I'm wrong please. That's the wrong way to address the issue. My understating is that the small (physical size) fuse/fuse block can't handle the amps drawn so a "larger" fuse and holder are installed. Not a higher rated fuse.

This is the very very wrong way to do things. Tell that tech he's an absolute idiot. This makes the fuse essentially part of the circuit and will fail to work as needed if there were ever an issue in that circuit. This could lead to a fire.

The physical fuse needs to be relocated. It's the same amp fuse that is replaced. To my understanding, the wiring is not able to handle the current and the plastic fuse holder melts. I'm getting mine done tomorrow. But take your truck back and make them do it right. You should get it done free for that bone headed move alone.

After seeing some of the fuse boxes in this thread my first thought was the truck burning down to the ground. I ordered the relocation kit from tasca right away.

I picked up the truck about an hour ago and looked at the fuse right away, it's a PHYSICALLY larger 20a fuse, I assumed higher amp when he said larger/bigger. FWIW the service adviser said they used to do this all the time before the kit came out and "They never came back" so make of that what you will.

Can you show us what their (dealer) new fuse looks like?
