The Wouxun is a great radio.
I personally prefer the KG-UV6D for the water resistance. Yes it is a bit more expensive but I've had it in pouring rain and by buddy even dropped it in the mud. Worked like a charm.
@RaptorWifey might even be able to program it for you if you ask nicely. Lol...

I have a Wouxun KG-UV6D (had 1 year) and a Baofeng BF-F8+ (had 2 months, new version of UV-5R) there are things I like and dislike about each of them. From my use so far the Wouxun radio has seamed to perform better TX/RX and has a dial to change channel. It is larger than the Baofeng. I got the not because of a problem with the Wouxn but because I wanted a smaller radio. For the specs both are about the same, with the Baofeng being a fraction of the cost of the Wouxon. I have found that the external mic/speaker that I have will work with either radio.

As for antennas the best thing is to add an external antenna to get it out of the metal box, I've found that just raising it out of the cup holder that I've gotten better performance out of it.

And last for the frequencies that we use both of these radios are pretty simple to program by hand and do not require the programming cable.
