Ford ESP question?

I own a 2020 with 9000 miles. My plan was to get a plan before the 3/36 ends. On there website it says

"Remember all Ford Protect plans start at the vehicles original retail date and 0 miles. You can find this date in the FordPass app"

So if I get a 8/125000, does that mean it started in 2020 and goes to 125000? If so it's really a 7/116000 plan. Can someone clarify? When I had my Ram I bought the similar plan at 32000 miles and I got an additional 8 years up to 100000 miles. It didn't subtract years. Thanks

From what I recall, if you purchase a Ford ESP 8/125,00, it starts at your purchase date. So, your kind of "double" covered the first three years and 36,000 miles. But, after that, it still protects you for eight years (from your purchase date) and 125,000 miles. I hope this makes sense. If my memory has failed me, folks, please chime in for correct information.

I worked for Ford for 15yrs, 10 of which I sold ESP plans. If you're purchasing an ESP while still under factory warranty they all start on your in service date. If you purchase the plan after your 3yrs or 36k the plan starts the day you purchase the warranty. The big difference of when you purchase the plan is the price. Purchase right before you run out. If you wait to buy it once your factory has expired you'll have to pay for an inspection and fix anything wrong before you can purchase a plan. The Premium is also quite a bit more expensive.

Ford ESP chat. I just got off with them and he told me this.

Own a 2020 ford f150. even if it was sold 4 year ago and I bought the 8? S I am only buying 4 years?

ESP -You just can’t buy 8 years at that point. You can buy 4.


ME - Huh. If i put in a 2017 with 38000 and over 36 months it comes up with a 8 year plan??

I don’t think the ESP guy was correct. I just got off the phone with the Audi warranty rep for my wife’s car. He told me to wait till the day after the factory warranty expires then buy the extended. This way it doesn’t start from the date it was bought. I explained what you guys said and what the ESP guy said. He said the ESP guy was wrong. ALL warranty’s start fresh after they expire. That’s why you wait. So either the ESP guy lied or he didn’t know what he was talking about.

What is the term for the Audi extended warranty. Their basic is 4/50 I believe like BMW. Just got a factory extended warranty for our 18 X5 we bought CPO about 1 1/2 yrs ago which extended it out to 7 yrs and unlimited mileage, upgrading the CPO year, which was the most they offer. To get this I had to do it before the factory warranty (not CPO) expired. Intetesting if Audi would warranty a car for more than 7 or 8 years from the original date it went into service with a factory extended warranty. Unless maybe it is some type of used vehicle warranty or 3rd party they sell. Ford ESPs (as most manufactures I am aware of) starts at the time the vehicle goes into service.

I think you can do it this way to get it to start the number years from the plan purchase date instead of the vehicle purchase/in service date. BUT as stated before the cost goes way up to purchase in that scenario vs buying while still under original factory warranty.

Yea I priced out Flood ESP and Endurance.

Endurance wants $3500 and said it's 8 years from NOW with no bulbs or keyfob.

Done.... I ended up going with lombard ford. They were like $100 more , but they offered 12 months financing. S0 with $1000 down it came out to be like $96 a month for 12 months. I was thinking about waiting, but I was uneasy what the prices would be in 2 years. Piece of mind now.
