I have read a couple threads about Fire extinguisher installs. I wanted a place to be accessibly from the drivers seat and front passenger without opening doors. Sometimes in a fire seconds count so I wanted it close by. I was sure with pedals etc. driver side would be a tough sell.. So I worked on the passenger side I came up with this. I removed the trim piece on the side of the center console forward and looked behind. Ok enough room for a metal plate and if positioned correctly it would clear everything and be out of the way of anything my wife would do. It is reachable form driver side and I tighten everything down so I don’t have any rattles. Pet peeve of mine rattles. So I put a small piece of foam directly behind the extinguisher at its contact points to avoid noise. I used a flat piece of aluminum plate on the backside and used nuts and bolts to hold it on... I have to go off road to declare it a success but have to wait until a free weekend to do that... So far here are a couple pictures….

Looks Good!

Is that a fish finder on the dash? :hahano: It looks good there and I like the ease of access but if my truck catches fire I'll let it burn that what I pay insurance for.

If i am in the truck, my dog, etc.. Yes I have insurance but would prefer to put the fire out and get home... On the dash Lowrance Elite 5m Baja GPS system.... Fire extinguishers are being required at more and more events so figuered ok add one...

An automatic system may save your life in an accident situation and cannot get out. Take your chances with Halon or let the flames burn you up.

Two years ago at Mustang Week, I watched a $50,000 Saleen mustang catch fire and burn during a run at Darlington Dragway. The fire started slowly at first and quickly grew. I think having a fire extinguisher would have helped contain the fire until the track safety made it down the track.
