Lol when the auto market cools and fuel prices go up what do you think is going to happen to your ram rebel trx lol. Is not going up I promise you. There are dealers over on the TuRdX forums asking folks to order/buy for 5,000 off msrp with some saying invoice. Historically speaking ram has held its value the WORST out of the big 3 in the truck department. Ask several members around here about the trade in values on rams. Lol I could care less about a Cox automotive report. VinConnect, vauto, dealertrack. I go off of MMR NOT BOOK #s.
Raptor - Premium Fuel, 36 gallon tank, 18 MPG max highway.
TRX - Premium Fuel, 33 gallon tank, 14 MPG max Highway.
It costs more to fill up a Raptor that it does a TRX, for what would ideally be about 100 mile difference. Most that buy in this market don’t really care about fuel costs, otherwise they would buy a Ridgeline or Santa Cruz and be done with it. This market dynamic follows the residual values. You don’t see Honda Civics value increase when gas is high. So you don’t really see it on the dealer side. Dealers will tell you this when you go to trade in your truck, but hope you understand that is a stupid, age old sales tactic.
At the end of the day, a truck is a truck. They would all swing in value together for the most part. So if you’re saying that the TRX value would bomb, I can 100% guarantee you the Raptors would follow.
Having fun arguing this out with you. Don’t take me for a TRX fanboy, or a Raptor fanboy in this scenario.
I think the Raptor is a great vehicle. Just not thrilled with the Gen 3. Gen 2’s are crazy overpriced right now. So the TRX seemed like a fit.
And there is a huge reason dealers are offering discounts on 2022’s for the TRX. It’s guaranteed inventory. Those dealers hope to hell you back out. Then they have inventory 100% coming into stock. And they can sell those units without the discount. Direct from my dealer principle that I bought my TRX from. That’s why they’re doing it. He wants me to back out. Ram notified dealers that since the auto part shortages are so bad, they would be focusing in sold orders vs stock orders. This created the discounts across the US.
