I went from a 2020 Raptor to a 2021 TRX earlier this month (I still poke my head in around here because I appreciate the knowledge found here), and if you are really interested in fast paced off road, the Raptor is going to feel better. I prefer the TRX for the off roading I’ll do (mostly forest service roads) and my day to day driving. That said, if I was in a place like Arizona where I was jumping the truck or pushing it fast off road I would have kept the Raptor. Simply put, you can’t hide the extra weight in the front of the TRX, it’s a fat heavy bastard.600 pounds. That‘s the approximate weight difference. 10%.
I haven’t driven these things back to back, but that should be a huge difference off-road.
Not sure about you dudes, but to me, the Raptor feels big and heavy enough off road where serious caution is to be exercised.
Around here, we are on fast fire roads and the inertia of a 6k lb truck is definitely to be respected when pitching it Into a turn or thinking about picking a line through a rutted out section.
and even with my Gen I, power is never the limiting factor on offroad fun.
for me, while he TRX power is compelling, I‘m inclined to lean to the off-road performance of lighter weight truck.
If you really want a TRX I know of a few dealers that are $5,000 or more off if you’re ordering a 2022. My dealer was $5,000 off, gave me $4,000 more for my Raptor than I paid for it, and shipped the TRX to me and then took the Raptor back to their dealership. There are two TRXs near me. Both $10k ADM. Both been there for well over a month. If they were Msrp, I may even consider one

Your use case is similar to mine. I'm on logging roads , but also off road through state parks. Nothing high speed. Have you had any issues? I'm with this dudeHaven’t posted since last winter when my big turbo build ended in a spun rod bearing. A new long block later and we parted ways as I wasn’t about to start over.
TRX, Raptor. Doesn’t matter. At the end of the day… a cool truck is a cool truck and what counts the most is how you enjoy them. You’ll have fans of both platforms and you’ll also have pros and cons to both. The competition will only drive brands to higher quality. The writing is on the wall anyway…. In 10-15 years it will be all electric, all the time. Enjoy the carbon eaters while you can.
Take a look hereok please. what dealer is that!
