Yeah I've heard about that. Crazy stuff. My guy is a small shop, very fair prices.

Wait why is xpel bad for off road? I was going to get it for that specific reason.

It's not at all, it will save your front end big time. If the film gets damaged they replace it. Pretty simple. All the vehicles I've had I only had the film "bust through" on a large rock once, and the film took the abuse not the bumper. It's 8mm thick as opposed to others being 6 or 5.

from what i understand it is good for light protection. but at $4500 it is not cost effective to wrap my truck. the guy i talked to last night said it will show "desert pinstrip" more. he agreed i should just have fun with the truck and linex ultra down the road if it got to bad. the front like the op did would be good. i wanted the sides too.

But xpel is self healing so I thought that would be a good thing to have. I heard from a few people that it would protect from desert pinstriping and it would go away after a wash.

to be honest i think they may not have wanted to do my truck. i did put 150-200 miles offroad on it last sat. could be that cause of the replacement warranty ect they figured i would be there every month or so for repairs. the self healing is actually them heating it up to melt out the scratches.

I have a friend in the desert, did his entire truck in the matte Xpel. His truck is flawless and he runs it hard. I would at minimum do the front with warranty. JMO.
