I was in Discount this morning getting tires for the G8 and noticed that Discount brands them as Falken "Rocky Mountain ATS" instead of Wildpeak.

I was wondering what that was. I wonder if the store branded tire is the same or modified to reduce cost. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yep, same tire but exclusive to Discount Tire... I would speculate this helps them avoid any price matching or MAP issues, having the exclusive namesake.

Aside from lettering, supposedly the same tire? I'd still go with the Wild Peak name, if the two were side by side and both available.

Discounttiredirect.com has them in stock for $256 each with free shipping... What a deal.

The wildpeak and Rocky Mountain are the exact same tire. Only difference is the name. And price.

Just an update on mine for wear. Have 65,000 kms on mine now. Rotated every 5,000 kms. Tread depth is sitting at 12/32.

Brand new mine had 17/32 tread depth.

So wear is fantastic on these. And I'm not easy on them.

I glad you guys like them, but they look too boring to me. I like the agressive patterns of the MTs, ie Toyo, Duratracs & others. How did you all get sold onto them? Why?

I agree that the looks are not as aggresive as the other tires that many people choose. My set was sponsored by Falken before the Land Rush event last year, and I was COMPLETELY skeptical about them.

Having never seen them on other Raptors, or heard anything good/bad/otherwise about them, I figured I'd give them a shot.

After seeing how well they have performed, and the overall comfort, I'm 100% sold on them. I will be buying them for sure, when it's time for new ones. Anybody that rides off road with me knows how I drive, and it SUPER impressed as well with their durability. They've held up better than my Grabbers did, and they're by far quieter.

I do miss the way the Grabbers looked though!!!

I to thought they were to mellow looking to be any good. But the price, and the good reviews I read made me take the chance on them. And I'm sure glad I did. Like blue said, they are amazing tires. Both on and Offroad. Super quiet on pavement. And they handle everything Offroad wonderfully.

For what it's worth though, the tires look far more aggressive in person than they do in pictures online.

I disagree on the looks... these are a
A/Ts, not M/T's... for an all terrain tire they look great. They will never look as aggressive as an mud terrain. I've owned them and really liked them...

yeah, thats exactly it. people keep comparing them to a MT. but they're an AT, not an MT.

to me, in person they are pretty dam agressive looking for an all terrain. nothing llke the duratrac though, but, then again the duratrac is more mud tire than all terrain in my opinion.

I used to have KM2's for my truck. but i smartened up and went the logical route and got AT's and I am sure glad I did.

the price, strength, and performance of these tires make it the only AT i'll buy. (that's currently on the market, who knows what the future holds)

Nah, I knew they were ATs, but the stock BFGs look just as good (at least by looking at the pics) as these Wildpeaks. I just like the more aggressive pattern of MTs, but not the weight & road noise that come with those looks. I love the look of the General Grabbers Red Letters but it seems like previous owners bitch about wet traction, which is not a good trait to have down in these parts. I'll just have to check them out in person, for now I'll take y'all word for them.
