Did you buy it as new or used?
If it had more than $500 in damage that was repaired, they can't sell it as new.
If you bought it as used, your SOL. You accepted the vehicle as is.
If you bought it as new, they need to work with you to make the vehicle right.
My guess is that they knew and fixed it on the cheap to stay under $500 so they could sell it as a "new" truck. Give them a chance to fix it right. They aren't going to give you a new truck, but they might repaint it the correct way. If they won't work with you, try going to your local news station. Most have a group that will put companies on blast for not taking care of their customers. This is usually enough to get the dealer to fix it.

Bought it brand new from a dealer. I am just worried this will be a fight because the dealer in not so many words told me if ford didn't approve the fix I would be out of luck

I am hoping that was just a heat of the moment statement at 8pm and I will give them the chance they deserve to make it right.

I don't expect a new truck at all. I love this one and wouldn't want to wait. I just want it fixed to factory new, and I know black is notorioulsy hard to repaint. I had a Porsche that took forever and never came out exactly right.

A question that comes to mind is why a brand new truck that's hard to get had 60 miles on the ODO? Did you ask them that before you purchased?

He said they drove it around ppfor inspection. I did not dive further in as I thought it was normal

Mine had 72 when it came off the truck. If it was an early build, they racked up test miles in Dearborn. The dealer could have ordered early and then it could have sat at the dealer for the last couple months while they waited for someone to pony up the ADM.

@Jake17

was that really necessary and did it really contribute to the discussion? Or was it meant to make you feel more fulfilled in your life by ridiculing someone else in a public forum - or attempting to anyway.

OP asked legit questions and asked us for help. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they haven’t been through this before and maybe their life experiences aren’t as vast as some of the more seasoned internet users on FRF.

Thank you for this. This is my first major purchase and I worked my tail off in graduate school and work to be able to afford this.

Dealer drove it around for 60 miles for "inspection"?!? Right....

That's either a LOT of test drives (highly unlikely considering the demand on these things and the number of people willing to buy sight unseen without test drives) or the miles back and forth to body shop.

You'd be surprised at how much paint rework goes on at the factory. But we don't know about it so we don't worry about it. How It's Made: Dream Car is an interesting watch and shows manufactures correct mistakes along the way.
