Thanks for the "How To".
I just installed the DeeZee on my '14.
Your method is much better than using the supplied nutsert.

I also purchased a ball mount that had a larger stud. New ball mount has a 5/16-18 thread (supplied ball mount is a 6m x 1mm).
I used stainless steel washers and nut for assembly.
I had a wrench that was 9" in length, so I didn't need an extension and zip ties.
I added waterproof grease to the bearing surfaces too.

The tailgate opens and closes without a problem.

This ball stud worked

I ordered this 10mm Ball Stud from Amazon. It has 5/16-18 thread.

Since the tailgate hole is oblong, I decided to add a nylon spacer. Figured it might keep it from rubbing the paint off if it moved. Used a lock nut and washer on the back side, along with some blue Loctite for overkill.

I ordered the same stud.
They come two to a package.

You could try Lowe's or an Ace. Fastenal would have it if there is one near where you live.

Yukon Joe
GREAT LAKES RAPTOR EXCURSIONS

Called Fastenal - No Luck!

I ordered one from amazon. Wasnt the same one as you guys though - that one is a filler item. You need to buy $25 worth of other stuff before they ship it.
