I went 11 years on my previous 4 wheeler, and traded the relatively archaic technology for the Rap. I think an 802a Raptor has about 2.25-2.5 x the technology of the most recent space shuttle. We made a costco run the 2nd day I had it and I did fairly similar. As usual, I backed into the parking space. There was a sign at the end of the parking space and on the way out instead of thoughtfully looking at the remote to unlock the truck, I inadvertently opened the tailgate right into the sign.

it left the tiniest of marks, but I am unable to let stuff like that go. I got touch up, and got to work on trying to improve it. After 10 days of trying I was still seeing the damage, so I headed up to the local body shop, he charged me 50 bucks and it looked as good as new.

;)

I'm the same way, if something I have gets screwed up, THAT'S ALL I SEE until I fix it nice. Sometimes it's really annoying to be ****.

I also have 2 parking mats on the floor for the front tires, so I'm in the exact same spot every time I park.

I'll admit, after seeing the junk warmer (insert cold? YEAH RIGHT!) I was really expecting to see the yellow tennis ball hanging on a string to know when to stop. :D

I got the mats quite a few years back when I started having 2 bikes in the front of the garage and wanted to make damn sure I never creeped in on them. Before that IT WAS the bright tennis ball hanging on a string. :D

Pop the cover off your FOB, use an exacto knife or something similar to trim off the rubber nub that contacts the tailgate release button. Boom, permanently disabled for that FOB.

Edit: I made a quick video on how to do this.

Thank you Sir. Should have thought of that myself!

This is no joke. I was an insurance adjuster for a long time and I went to this old guy's house to look at his car which was in the garage. I asked him if I could back it out of his garage to see it better and he obliged. When I got in to back it out the tennis ball hanging from the ceiling turned around with a post-it note on it that read, "open the garage door it's cheaper"

I take care of my vehicles. If they get scratched or dented I get it fixed right away. I don't have the space in my garage for it. I use it too much to keep raising and lowering the garage door. It's usually spotless, but after the recent storm, you guys would have a heart attack if you saw it now. LOL

That's pretty good, and true! With bikes on one side and a big heavy metal work table on the other side in the front, I figured I would rather be safe than sorry.

I've never taken a vehicle to a body shop, except where insurance was involved, and had no idea fixes to scratches could be so cheap. Now I'm going to have to go see if I can get a couple scratches fixed. Nothing major, just stuff that no one notices but me.

Being honest, a tailgate drop like that is my worst nightmare when I close my garage door.
Worst nightmare is I hit the garage door opener and the tailgate pops open as the garage door is moving.
I did this on an ML320 I had and it left a nice 8” gouge on the back hatch. Not a scratch, but a deep down to the metal scar.
