big oil don't have to tell you how they get to the octane if it's under 10% so you might be running ethanol and not even know it lol I get a kick out of people that say their car runs like crap on ethanol and just came from MN and that state has ethanol in all their gas saying how good their car is running. It's like saying I'm running synthetic free oil lol no such thing. believe what you want I like e-30 its the right price and octane for me I have had no issue with my 6.2 but have only ran 3 tanks so would wait for me to run a few more to see how it turns out.
P.S. I am averaging 12 mpg with 1200 miles on the truck so far and have not run it for mpg yet its too fun to drive.

I run 93 ethanol-free gas with a tune from 5 Star. No issues whatsoever and I have been averaging 14.5 MPG in mostly city driving.

Is there anything special you asked 5 Star to do in your tune? What mpg when you are doing only highway running? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I told Mike at 5 Star that I would be running non-ethanol, and he tweaked the tune accordingly. I'm currently running his 93 economy (non-ethanol) tune. My truck is only 2 months old and I haven't been on any long trips yet to determine highway MPG.

Thanks, I would appreciate an up-date if you remember. Stephen

I wonder why Ford has the little red circle with the line thru it over e-20 and e-85 right next to the hole you put the gas in?

Not a single ethanol free station in Houston, TX...we refine it here for Christ's Sake!

Look for gas stations near bodies of water where people fill up their boats. Outboards cannot run ethanol (well they can - but it will destroy them). There are plenty of ethanol- free gas stations here in along the gulf coast.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Saints Fan is on the money. Mercury Marine recently published a report on the effects of E15 on outboard engines available here:

http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy12osti/52909.pdf

If you are bored by the details at least look at page 5 of 52 for the executive summary. I know we are running E10 in our trucks, but here is the short version of the effects of ethanol (besides lower fuel milage):

- Leaner burn
- Higher exhaust gas temperatures (cracked exhaust valves and softer pistons)
- Degradation of elastomers after 2 months exposure to ethanol
- Lubrication dispersion issues
- Degradation of emissions systems

Ultimately its your call what you run, but given the choice and about a $.20 upcharge for 91 octane E0, the choice is easy for me.
