I don't get it. While he was "racing", he wasn't operating the truck out of the expected norms of it's use. I'm pretty sure "flooring it" doesn't void your warranty. You should be able to walk in to the dealer right now and tell them directly that something broke under hard acceleration and it shouldn't be an issue, let alone post on a forum where you look for advice and support. So why are you piling up on him?

It’s the internet.

Some of the responses here are a bit harsh. 0-60 pulls do not stress a factory spec engine much at all. Driveline components, sure, but not the engine. It’s idoits doing WOT pulls at 80mph in 10th gear is the reason factory tunes have to be so incredibly conservative. The OP will have no issue getting taken care of under warranty assuming no mods. Sorry to hear this happened, hope the resolution comes swiftly.

Racing does in fact void a lot of warranty claims for vehicles. It also voids insurance coverage if you were to get into an accident while doing so.

I generally agree. I also don’t take a lot of peoples description of what happened at face value. Especially when it describes a manual shifting situation. Didn’t shift it soon enough, held redline too long, blah blah blah.

Agreed, sometimes not even the programmed nannies can save us from ourselves…

He said: "we were comparing 0-60 speeds on a flat surface". Didn't say race! And likely that is in reference to an actual race- not just mashing the throttle from a stop.

I haven't checked the Gen 3 manual, but the Gen 2 manual stated that when in manual, the truck wouldn't prevent you from blowing the engine (paraphrasing). It would prevent you from stalling by downshifting, but wouldn't automatically upshift to protect the truck.

If I manual shifted my Gen 2 and didn't shift into second gear fast enough it would cut power and fall on its face. I would prefer that it would bounce off of a rev limiter but it doesn't. Even though your shifting before redline the truck can hit redline before the actual shift takes place......I agree with letting the truck shift itself
