forgot to add, that detail shop details their cars/trucks at the dealership...which is why they tried saying it had "nothing" to do with water...and had everything to do with the K&N...really????? **** ran flawless before they touched it....thats all i know.

Honestly, I'm not sure I understand what happened to cause this (what the detail shop did). Nor is it clear to me how the dealer "fixed" it.

I do suggest you don't use a pressure washer under the hood. I use the hose and sprayer - that's more than enough pressure to clean most anything from the engine and components and the underside of the hood too. You could use a product like Simple Green (or a generic spray on degreaser) to help clean any oil, grease off...

:agree: pressure washer under the hood = bad. The owner's manual also has a diagram of what areas to be extras careful about protecting/avoiding getting wet.

well yea...but they have a selection called "spot free rinse" which its lighter than your average garden hose and i keep my engine running during..which i have used many times in the past...i just wanted it to look "new" again...and who knows what they did.

But yea, i will look in the manual to see what it is exactly i can hit or not.

I basically have the brand new sensor sitting in my passanger seatl...it was more than 266 dollars, i looked over all my receipts as to what i paid..

I paid 90 for the test, 10 dollars for a MAF sensor cleaning, then i paid 244 for the sensor, then i paid 33 for the core and extra for taxes...

I paid almost 400 dollars for something that isnt bad. I wish there was somebody i can talk to...cause if it was honestly bad to begin with, i would eat the mopney and tyake it up with the detail shop...but i have my old sensor in my truck.

I guess i can keep it as a spare part, but thats a really expensive spare, cost more than a tire.

What would any of you guys do in this situation? i might talk to the service manager and be nice about it and ask him what he would do...or what he thinks is right.

wow...that blows dude!

I don't mean to give you heck but install a factory air cleaner when ever you have to place your truck in the shop. I would also detail you engine your self....it's not as hard as it seems. I'm flat out lazy and used to detail my Harley truck engine all the time using glass cleaner and Armoral. You just hoses the engine down with Armoral and wipe it up.

Anyhow, I'm glad you got your truck back and running right!

i know..problem was that i was in limp mode..and to get to my house was dead far and the dealership was a lot closer...funny you said that cause i looked to my bud who was helping me out...and i told him..hey man lets go to my pad real quick and get the stock air filter...he was like "dude, you gatta be kidding me if they get that picky" i was like uhhh...have you delt with them before? LOL

I knew what was going to happen, but i had to run back to work ASAP and he was going out of his way as well helping me out so i wont get a ticket for going 5mph in a 45mph zone during lunch hours...

I called the service department, i asked her if she can talk to the parts manager monday to see if i can get some type of credit for the new part...i doubt he will let me, but im hoping she will do right by me by talking to him personally. She said she will do her best, but im doubting it. I might have to eat the 400 dollars, but before then im going to call a couple of people. I can also talk to my Legal department, as if they are doing shady maintenance to military personnel, they can get banned...which would toss a huge dent in their pockets...only downfall, i would have to drive 40 miles to get any maint done, and also they threw in free oil changes to my truck for 7 years...and it has to be through this dealership.

Gonna talk to a few friends and see what or who can help me out...just trying to take care of it at the lowest possible level.

What exactly is their reason for not taking a brand-new, unused Ford factory part back? And what is their return policy?

If they won't "let" you return it, maybe you should ask someone else to return it?

anything electrical is non refundable...they have a big sign for it...which is why i was very wary on purchasing the part. they said they are going to look into as to what they can do. its pretty messed up at either direction you look at

my thing is, they falsly identified a part being bad when it wasnt...that alone should warrant the return.

FYI, I got this from our manual.

ENGINE
Engines are more efficient when they are clean because grease and dirt
buildup keep the engine warmer than normal. When washing:
• Take care when using a power washer to clean the engine. The
high-pressure fluid could penetrate the sealed parts and cause
damage.
• Do not spray a hot engine with cold water to avoid cracking the
engine block or other engine components.
• Spray Motorcraft Engine Shampoo and Degreaser (ZC-20) on all parts
that require cleaning and pressure rinse clean. In Canada use
Motorcraft Engine Shampoo (CXC-66-A).
• Cover the highlighted areas to prevent water damage when cleaning
the engine.
• Never wash or rinse the engine while it is running; water in the
running engine may cause internal damage.
• Never wash or rinse any ignition coil, spark plug wire or spark plug
well, or the area in and around these locations.
