If Ford made a stroker version of the 6.2 and sold the computer software to make it work in the Raptor I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Livernois makes a 6.6L version of the 6.2L motor.
Does it need software to run properly?

Ford's only mistake was naming it ECOboost. They should have stayed away from the "green" terminology. But anyway, the EcoBoost should have just completely replaced the 5.0 imop. More power better mileage, end of discussion. I know at least four people with ecoboost f-150s who have had zero problems and love em. And if the Raptor came in a cheaper twin turbo setup, I'd be pushing around 900HP right now while running E-85 to **** everyone off.

boost is not a replacement for displacement.

its an addition.

take a 3.5 L and a 5.0 L both NA, the 5.0 will blow away that little sixxer.

slap two turbos on the 3.5 and it now has similar HP, and more torque. BUT, slap two turbos on that 5.0 and it will completely blow away that 3.5

you cant compare a boosted engine to a NA engine and say its better because boost. anyone can boost an engine. the guy with more displacement will win. end of story.

no replacement for displacement.

So you're saying that a 5.0L motor has more displacement than a 3.5L motor and there's "no replacement for displacement"...

Brilliant oh Master of the Obvious

That's why the word "replacement" is used... The turbo is "replacing" the loss of displacement, to give it the same or better output.

So yes, there IS a replacement for displacement, when comparing a smaller boosted motor to a larger NA motor.

How about the high compression V-6 N/A motors that are outperforming a larger displacement V-8? A 335-HP Nissan 3.7L, that would walk all over a 5.4L Ford V-8...

It's not all about displacement, there's 100's of engine parameters that affect its output, displacement just being one of MANY.

No you wouldn't because there isn't a 900hp ecoboost, anywhere. The highest hp eco is ~500bhp, they are running out of fuel with no viable solution, yet. In time, yes, of course there will be 900hp eco's - just because they can. So what, there are 1200hp 5.0's NOW. Blowing a lot of coin on making something smaller more powerful totally negates the idea of 'more power for less money'.

Bimmers are having the fuel issues too. I think all direct injection engines are burning up high pressure pumps when you start to push em. I think they started yanking all of the direct injection stuff for old school pumps to. But whatever the case, I'd be running with or ahead of 5.0s.
