While this site is pretty loose, you have managed to cross the line with that picture.

Ha my families fuel costs are about 7 grand PER MONTH in December. and that was when prices were good. Now it's like 1.25/litre (4.51/gal)

Atm where I am is low in Canada. Highest I heard was 1.40/litre (5.05/gal)

So I have to ask... why does everyone hate the smart car so much? I mean... is it a great only car? NO, does it have its purpose? Hell yeah!

I don't hate it. I just wouldn't ever ever be caught inside one.

It's great for quick short city driving, if you're a smart driver. One wrong move and you're in a rolling casket basically.

I've seen some lady almost get smushed because she stopped for a yellow light with an 18 wheeler right behind her. he had to jump up onto the curb to avoid hitting her.

I dont hate them, I just think it's another attempt by the eco nazis to convince us that a tiny little death trap is the next great thing. Maybe if I was crazy enough to live in SF or NYC where speeds & distance are not that great it would make sense. Here in the wide open west, not such a great idea.

Ive seen someone put a Hayabusa engine in a Smart Car on YouTube. It was also rear wheel drive which was cool (I'm not sure if they all are, but I would assume they come as front wheel drive  ) ....Now thats one I'd drive.... Little thing was getting sideways and doing lil' drifts and all kinds of other zippy maneuvers, but was fast as hell. The thing sounded -and accelerated- like a Hayabusa.... You cant say that wouldn't be fun to drive.

The reason the Smart Car did so well in Europe is because of the tiny streets there made looooong before the automobile was invented and subsequently, the Smart Car's best feature over there is it's ability to find a parking spot. We're not that cramped on this side of the globe.
