A caring, reputable tire shop will remove the beauty rings prior to any tire work, purely to ensure they are not damaged in the process.
The even better shops will do so (remove / replace) with a standard ratchet instead of an impact gun, which can play havoc on the fairly soft bolts that hold the rings on.
In my neck of the woods, Discount Tire does great work in this aspect: my original BFGs were pretty knackered at 40k. Today, I bought a new set of BFG Mud Terrains, and they ran a tech out to remove the rings before the truck even went on the lift. Good people.
