A caring, reputable tire shop will remove the beauty rings prior to any tire work, purely to ensure they are not damaged in the process.
The even better shops will do so (remove / replace) with a standard ratchet instead of an impact gun, which can play havoc on the fairly soft bolts that hold the rings on.

In my neck of the woods, Discount Tire does great work in this aspect: my original BFGs were pretty knackered at 40k. Today, I bought a new set of BFG Mud Terrains, and they ran a tech out to remove the rings before the truck even went on the lift. Good people.

Trust no one and remove/install yourself. I wouldn't think balancing wouldn't be an issue. I removed the trim rings, had my tire shop put the outer bead on the outside of the wheel and made them true beadlocks myself and never needed them balanced afterwards. Don't give them a chance to "F" them up
