Talked to JL Audio's wizards last night about the mid-bass ZR800's. We want to use them as mid bass and not full range, so we need high range bypass, and were going to build it in line.

They recommended we not use the JL Audio 900/5, but rather go to the 700/5, which offers high range bypass on two of the five channels, so it's designed for mid bass directly from the amp. They said it will have more than enough power to drive the separates, mid bass and sub. so, the 900/5 is coming out this morning and the 700/5 is going it. good news is it's a bit smaller so fit will be even easier.

New day, more updates:

The ZR800's in the rear doors are done, and they look great. to carry the extra weight and the modification of the rear doors, we braced the doors and attached the framing on the speaker between the door panel and attached the whole assembly to the door so that the door panel is now free floating, and not bearing the load of the speaker.

The Kenwood deck also presented a challenge as it's heavy and I told the guys I didn't want a flimsy mount for it, so they fabbed up some stronger brackets and bolted it down tight, ready for airborne testing:

Work started on the AudioMobile 10" sub box as well. It has to be very tight, small space for it to fit.

Picked it up last night, here are some final shots, and I'm making a video so you can see a demo of the work done.

The mic mount turned out very cool, used an RJ45 jack to remove it easily:

The sub is a tight fit. The seat won't go all the way up with it under there, but can't see why i'd need to lift it up anyways.

the head unit came out great. it sits in the bezel nicely, and the trim ring behind it holds it in tight.

and a few gratuitous shots of the outside of my baby:

I will have a video in a little while.

so, total cost? $8992, not including the cost of the ICOM 880 (415) or the ORS siren (200). Took about 11 days of work (full 2-3 days on the sound proofing). quality of work is top notch.

what would I have done differently? - I might have gotten rid of the Tuff Box and used the whole area to drop 3 10"s in there. My highs, mids, and mid subs sound great, i'm a little weak on low hits, but still adjusting the frequencies.

the guys who did it?
