Spain and Germany are also classified as level 2, just like Baja. what is the point?

If you're a federal employee, yes you should register with the state department. You should also not brag or be open about being a federal employee while in the country. This is normal SOP anyway.

We're not saying that y'all should cruise down to Sinaloa. We're saying steer clear of TJ. adventure does entail a bit of risk, however being aware and alert to keep yourself out of dangerous situations is normal for many folks. I don't mindlessly wander in the U.S. without a care in the world either.

100% truth, I've been to many areas of Detroit, Philadelphia, Camden, L.A. N.Y.C., Baltimore and D.C. that are twice as scary as anyplace that I've been in Baja.
Registration is not just for Gov employees.

I just got back from a mini vacation to TJ, Rosarito, Ensanada. Don't be stupid and don't hang with the wrong crowd and you'll be fine.

I understand that. the point is you're border-line fearmongering.

Don't make going to Baja out to be more dangerous than it actually is.

there is nothing in the world like Baja. There is no other offroad experience like it.

The entire peninsula is magical in one way or another. If it isn't for you, that's cool, my humble ask is don't discourage others based on your hesitation, trepidation and/or fear.

The OP asked for feedback, both good and bad. They can decide what makes sense for them. I am sure it's nice down there but like many places in the US, I would not go to just because it's not worth the risk in my opinion. Fearmongering, your entitled to your opinion as am I. Call it what you want, but not my cup of tea.

What has your experience been in Baja? Or are you basing your opinion on watching Sicario?

I think the OP would be better served with us sharing our actual experiences (as many have) then just opinions..everybody has an opinion, but it may not be factual....

Hey all! Might tag along with a buddy of mine the weekend of 25/26. Quick trip to Santo Tomas then go west to the coast.

Any advice ?
