The module connector configuration on the 17+ trucks is different. They engineered around a bad ground and right into a ****** choice in vendor for the seat cushion/pad configuration. I would bet all newish trucks that lose their heat is due to a broken element, not a bad ground or burnt connector/bad module. It’s prob worth checking but unfortunately probably not your problem.

That’s good to know with the 17+ thanks! Don’t have that issue on mine (knock on wood) looks like a challenging fix, great work!

Joined the forum just to post in this thread. I have an 18 Lariat with the 502A package (heated/cooled seats). My drivers side heated seat stopped working earlier this year and thanks to this thread I think I have it narrowed down to the cushion heating element being bad. Im still a little upset that a 3 year old truck already needed a new element. Sucks that it happened a little bit outside of the bumper to bumper warranty as well.

I measured the resistance of the drivers side element and got 20 ohms. Measured the passenger side and one of the rear seat elements and both came in at 1 ohm. I also used Forscan to read the temp sensors and the drivers side did not change at all. While the passenger side instantly starts to change when turned on.

Luckily I was able to purchase just the cushion element, PN: JL3Z-14D696-H. I did plug it in and the element started to warm up so I believe it's my issue.

I've had the element in my possession for a while now and plan on swapping it out today. Im going to pull the seat out of the truck to make things easier as well.

I replaced the element and I have a heated drivers seat again. Took less than two hours to remove the seat, replace the element, and re-install. Glad I removed the seat because it would have been a btch to do it in the car. Plus it allowed me to vacuum under the seat and between the seat and center console.

Im pretty sure my issue was the same as the one poster earlier in this thread. The plastic bar that attaches to the hook (or is it the arrow) that's in the seat foam, must have somehow worn the element wire down or broke it. To try and prevent it from happening again, I cut some of the old element fabric and stuffed it underneath and above the new element. Hopefully that helps prevent direct contact of the plastic piece and the wire.

Beer of choice for todays project.. Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

Fabric I stuffed down into the crevice to hopefully help prevent issues in the future.

Problem area that sat in the same crevice as above.

Old element and removing the hook and arrow attachments.

Image of the hook and arrow. This was the part that made me the most anxious to do the repair.
There are no good images online so I had to go with the Ford repair manual and wing it. The gray bar
is attached to the orange part. I inserted a small flat head screw driver, twisted it, and pulled the gray bar out.
Worked very well.

Trying to pinpoint if this is my problem as well.
Getting a B1156:1A-0A driver seat fault on Forscan.
Both seat aren’t heating but cooling fine.
Thanks in advance.

Go to my post in this thread, #73, read it and scroll down a few posts. You can ohm out the connector and see if there is a break in the element. That should get you started at least. When mine quit working, it was only the driver side, passenger side worked fine.

Had my truck in today for service and I mentioned my seat no longer heats. They diagnosed it as the element. Thanks for the write up above. Looks like I have a project ahead of me.

My seat just quit working as well

The lights work, fear its the element.

When I call my local dealers, everyone asks if its the seat element or the back element. Neither of those elements work on the drivers side.

Would a break of the element in the seat (butt) cushion cause the back element not to function as well?
