Does it matter when you buy your extended warranty?

always wonder why people actually post a response if they have no clue what they are blabbering about???

flood ford sells factory warranties only.

their prices are usually the best around and the warranty is transferable.

do you think if I sell my truck with 60k miles on it but it has a factory 100k warranty that I will get a premium price???

I like the “never heard of it but you’re wrong” opinions found on forums
(and life in general) frequently.

Great post.

Haha! Is there some way to “unlike” a post that has so many inaccuracies it is laughable?

His original post, not yours!

As a final thought, do not buy an extended warranty if you plan to modify your truck before it expires. I heavily modified mine after 1 month of ownership, so no extended warranty for me!

Depending how young you are, this works really well if you’re compulsive about it:

I started a “car account” with money direct deposited out of my monthly check about 25 years ago. Enough to cover car payments and warranty that you’d usually pay for. After a time, basically you end up self insuring yourself. I had a Tundra with no issues for a LONG time, was paid off, so that account built up so much, that when my wife decided to surprise me, she wrote a check for the Raptor from that account this past November.

Did the same thing with dental. Never bought dental insurance but instead just saved the “premium” I would have paid for dental insurance. That account has 10’s of thousands in it now.

Downside is that if you get really unlucky particularly early on, you’ll take a hit. If you are modestly fortunate, and just keep at it, you’ll cover yourself, and then some!

Dave Ramsey? Is that you? :)

Ha!! It’s a little roll of the dice early on but it’s really worth it. I’ve got kids I keep in wheels, my wife, and 3 vehicles of my own. So keeping what I call the “car account” (just a checking account only for new vehicle purchase and repairs) since I was young has kept me from ever having to finance a vehicle. I’m not a big fan of giving my money to someone else for nothing (finance charges/interest...). And yeah, and I pay my credit card off every month too.

Another little hint. Every time you have the option of buying a warranty for anything...particularly appliances, just put that money in a separate account instead of buying the warranty. Pay for repairs from the account. Same can be said for extended warranty on vehicles, but you gotta have a few of those that are pretty reliable...My kids have Hondas and my wife an Acura and I’ve had Toyotas...so in general pretty reliable. Bank accounts are flush with money from all those would be payments.

Lombardo Ford I bought mine through. 1200 covered 6 72k also gave zero interest to finance it for 12 months. It's the Ford factory warranty good at every Ford dealer. The same warranty through every dealer get the best price and save its the same wherever you buy it.

What is everyones thoughts on adding the extras...on the Flood site it shows:

First day rental +$20
Enhanced rental +$60
Bulb coverage +$55
Key Services +$60

I would probably skip the enhanced rental and the key services but curious about the bulb coverage and the first day rental

Like Dave says, "now how did you not figure you would be needing a newer vehicle in 5 years?. Why not save what the payment would be now for 5 years and then you'll be able to buy it with cash."

Yup, we're currently having our 17 year old watch his DVD's. Makes sense though.

Ok, so I looked up Flood Ford, it looks like some middleman selling Ford ESP? Should be fine. The reason I never heard of it is because they don’t exist in the west coast, I went directly to Ford’s website to lookup warranties. But if you want to go through a middleman to get your warranty go for it. Point being, avoid aftermarket warranties if you can.

if you don’t mind aftermarket warranties, go for that too. Just be prepared to haggle with them every time you have a repair.

Flood is a large multi-line multi-location dealer in Rhode Island that will sell the Ford warranty at a discount anywhere in the US. https://www.floodauto.com/
